Snow/wintry Precipitation Reports 26/27th Jan 2006

Hi All

Just looked at the N-W Extra ppn radar, there is a nice bunch of wintery ppn heading round the top of Holland and hopefully tracking towards the south east, maybe gaining in intesity a bit as it comes?, or am I just being hopeful..

Been having some very fine snow showers just outside Canterbury. The little grain kind.

When walking to the railway station this morning, I noticed some light hail / snow grains on the tops of cars.

HI everybody

I have not posted on here for a while due to the inconsistency of the models etc and could not get involved the debate as I am unable to read them suffice to say , I have been lurking in the background reading and hopefully learning .

anyway after all that rambling on I would just like to report that here in ramsgate it is SNOWING and has been for approx half an hour so far, quite large flakes but not really settling atm.

Light snow shower this morning at 0530 on A2 nr Canterbury.

Few light showers during the day.

Recently got home and its been snowing lightly for 15-20mins. Flakes very small and not settling with a temp of 2C.

Well, you southern nambies haven't got a monopoly on snow you know. If you look at Mallerstang, Cross Fell and the hills around Ullswater this morning, you can, if you look very hard (through a polorised filter) make out what looks to be the very merest dusting of snow above 2000ft.

Are you quite sure it isn't mineral salt leaching out of evaporating groundwater in the unseasonable warmth?

If I look through by Carl Zeiss binoculars I can see distant white blobs as well: these ones keep moving around though.
