The ground is pretty soggy this week but something drier early next week before hints of warmth as the festival starts. Do still pack your wellies.

What will the weather do this year for Glastonbury as there were some torrential downpours last year. Welcome to our #Glasto weather updates.

Friday 17th June - Gates open in 5 days, the festival runs from Weds 22nd June til Sunday 26th

A friend posted this earlier in the week. And 10 days ahead that can be a worry. If charts are showing high pressure now, which can bring fine, dry and settled conditions, will the forecast fade away from that fair picture?

Warm!

Astoundingly it is looking warm. Next week temperatures over southern Britain are set to rise from the high teens up well into the twenties. Thursday is already showing the possibility of 25C on the forecast charts. There is the potential for the heat to stay into the weekend but if we keep west or SW winds over Somerset and some cloud, maybe the odd shower temperatures look like they will plateau in the low 20s, which is probably a comfortable temperature for sleeping in a tent and being outdoors all day.

Weather – sunshine and showers

It does look like there will be a drier spell early next week for the ground to dry out a bit after the recent torrential downpours from thundery showers. Over the whole festival there looks to be a lot of fine, bright weather with interruptions from showers.

So, there is some uncertainty still. If the flow is more easterly and heat builds from the continent it could become humid again and any showers will be slow moving and potentially thundery again. That means heavier downpours but they do look more isolated at this stage, rather than the rash we’ve encountered this week. It wouldn’t really be Glastonbury without an almighty downpour and mud fest for a least one day.

More weather updates to come.
