Glastonbury- More rain to come then improving

After the fine start the heavy, thundery showers look set to return to Pilton after yesterday's lightning strikes. There is some good news though.

Sat 28th Struck by lightning on Friday!

There might be more today. To start Saturday there are heavy showers to the north and to the south. By late morning they begin to line up through Somerset and could move right over Glastonbury with thunderstorms. 18C in any sunny spells. There will be an improvement this evening, that's the good news, it will become drier as the heavy showers clear. Coola gain tonight

Sunday is looking much better. Sunny in the morning, and still bright and dry into the afternoon. There is a small chance of a light shower but it's likely that the site could stay dry and have a fine final day

Thurs- after a lovely morning, sunshine 19C, the cloud is just increasing and you could add the Jaws theme tune to this forecast. Heavy rain is on its way, its already been chucking it down in Cornwall then Devon with a few thundery bits added in.

4 o'clock are you ready?

Weds 25th June

A fine day 1 for Somerset with sunshine. It will be warm, even as the cloud increases this afternoon up to 21C. A super start, sunnies and suncream on! It will turn chilly overnight, down to 9C. Hope the campers have something cosy.

Day 2 Thursday starts off fine and sunny but cool. The sunshine will disappear but even so, 19C will feel okay and it will be dry until mid afternoon. Then trouble starts to appear on the weather charts.

The red dot is Pilton and a line of hefty showers is forecast to move across from Devon, late afternoon into Thursday evening. You'll feel it coming, with a muggy, heavy feeling in the air. There is a small chance of a thunderstorm too, but the whole lot will be through before midnight.

Day 3 Friday will see further showers, but off and on, not a complete washout. There will be a few bright spells but without so much sunshine only up to 16C.

THE WEEKEND - Cool and cloudy.
Temperatures around 16C, mostly dry, just the odd light shower and a lot of cloud. Still worth taking the sunscreen as UV does get through the cloud cover. So not awful, but not that summery.

Keep an eye on the Netweather forecast

Weather

May update
Last year, there was heat and sunshine (and some hefty showers) for Glastonbury but on the whole, more flip flops than wellies.
This year's festival runs from Weds 25th until Sunday 29th June and the first weather charts are just appearing for midweek.
it is still a long way off, there will be a lot of updates here on Netweather over the next fortnight. There is a whole thread on the community forum, of discussion and analysis.

http://forum.netweather.tv/blog/189/entry-4761-glastonbury-festival-2014-25-to-29-june-forecast-no-5-issued-8-june/

Check it out and join in. Out this far ahead, there are only themes and comparisions to average conditions. By Mon 16th, we'll be into the 10 day forecast period and the weekend 21/22nd is closer to the more comfortable 5 day forecast zone.

Stil if you want a bit of hope, there is a high pressure, building towards SW England on the charts issued today for Weds 25th. That means settled and dry weather. It could also bring heat, the UK is about to see high pressure building in the south this week and it will be warm and sunny. Maybe the start of Glastonbury could be the same? Stay tuned.
