A few photos taken whilst skiing.

Actually I just read the rules properly. These pics were not taken in May so ignore them, but enjoy anyway.

That was taken from my hotel balcony in Mayrhofen Feb '05. Was an absolutely stunning view to wake up to each morning.

Dont think i will be entering this month.

The competition is too good. :)

On a serious note. Quality photos indeed by all entrants so far.

Paula.... , your photo brings me back to my childhood days (Early 60's) when in Ireland we used to make May altars in honour of "Our Lady" (A Roman Catholic tradition that I would say has long since gone). We used to collect cowslips from our local field.

useless fact about the cowslip .... the petals are edible and used to be used in salads etc and even lightly battered and fried for a few seconds :D

Could someone explain how to insert pictures directly into a post rather than as an attachment? When I hit the 'insert image' button when posting I get asked for a URL - which is what??? :D:nonono::D please and thank you...

Tugmistress, you've either started a trend or stole my thunder :) I've been out and about in this glorious weather this week, pottering through some woods near Plockton in the line of duty, and caught some wonderful spring sights. Thursday was especially good, really clear air.

First picture shows budburst on an old birch with the sun strategically behind a branch:

birch.jpg

Next are some primroses - slugs and snails like the petals of these too, they're the same genus as cowslip!

primrose.jpg

And last is a pic of some (take a deep breath) opposite-leaved golden saxifrage, which aren't saxifrages at all, with a few bits of wood-sorrel peering up:

oolgswoodsorrel.jpg

(Hope these work okay: there have been a few comments about huge attachments so I thought this might be a better way to do it.)

edit: well I've no idea why two are small and one is bigger........ If anyone would like me to post thumbnails with bigger attachments or email them the originals, I'm happy to do either as the detail really is lost at this size.

See you got it sorted HC, :) very nice pics

thanks :) but they're fiddly pictures that are best at full screen, not tincy like above!

Here they are as attachments:[attachmen

Note for non-broadband users: many apologies, but these attachments are about 6MB each.

My grandmother used to live along Waterside in Knaresborough, it's a lovely place! Used to go down the road to the ice cream place and sometimes rent a boat (gotta watch out for the weir downstream though :) )

Ah childhood memories :) Very nice pic of it, takes me back! :)

post-4727-1147634874.jpgHere's a nice spring photo, taken this afternoon in the woods at the back of our house. It illustrates just how nice and warm this May has been so far. I hope I can do this!!
