lol not sure what you do when we have a heatwave rob, this weather is pretty normal for July

    3. Dancerwithwings

Hang on we'll be there in 100 million years!

      Derp Patrol

I was being sarcastic lol.. some people were actually complaining about it being too sticky!!

  2. Maybe we should go back to the traditional NW/SE split, it seems northerners can't handle a little warmth lol :p

Nothing traditional about the NW/SE splits of recent years.

    3. Derp Patrol

      Derp Patrol

It's actually very traditional. Fronts should pass to the north of Scotland, affecting western and northern parts of the UK, whilst the azores tries to ridge into SE UK. That's the default summe r pattern.

    4. AderynCoch

Like I said, not in recent years. The divides have been worse than normal. This current spell of weather is no less unusual.

  3. Thank god things will finally warm up, temperatures should be about 15C this time of year, not 5C

      Thundery wintry showers

The norm for this time of year ranges from 10-11C in most northern areas to 13C around London, if I remember rightly. Thus 15C would be above average- but nearer normal than 5C!

    3. Summer Sun

      Summer Sun

I'm sure we'll see some sunny periods from the up and coming westerly so given that it will feel like spring again don't get me wrong today is nice but the wind soon reminds you where its coming from!

    4. Milhouse

It will be good to finally see the hedgerows full of colour and that grass finally start to grow.

  4. It's March, it should be warmer now, people wishing for snow should wait 9 months!

My max of the year so far was in January still! (12.2c)

    3. Aaron

Ditto here Bottesford! Hasn't gone above 10C here since 15 Feb.

    4. Alex95

March is just as wintry as December on average, so we are well overdue a snowy one. 2008 was the last if I remember correctly, whereas before that it nearly always seemed to snow at some point in March?

  5. GFS 12z not too bad. It will stay warm in the south until Friday, with temperatures at the weekend only down to average. It only really looks awful on the east coast and further north. Following this it looks like high pressure wants to try and build by the start of next week. Maybe certain people shouldn't speak so soon lol!

      A Winter's Tale

The SE have no clue about Scottish weather, or northern weather. It really isn't as bad as some people think.

Maybe certain people shouldn't speak so soon lol!

LOL maybe you should take your own advice there, you seem overly excited over an outlier run

    4. Evening thunder

      Evening thunder

Lol shame the ECM and UKMO barely show any northerly at all Eugene..

  6. Love these warm evenings. Still 23C here and will stay up to 20 till 12. Windows wide open, warm breeze coming in, birds singing... I love summer! I could never get this feeling in the dark winter days

Yep that's pretty much the size of it... Sun's got to our heads maybe. Either way it's all gooooood.

I probably prefer summer now, far more light, warmth, lovely spring/summer growth, etc.. If winter was colder/snowier I'd like it more.. rather than looking at most other places getting it all when we are bland and mild most of some winters.

I love snow/frost, just not worth making winter favorite season for that here.

So very pleasant out there tonight. Exceptionally nice spell of weather this. :)

  7. Awful awful weather... 11C and rain.. this would not be out of place in mid winter..

    1. andreas

Have been thinking how much lying snow there would have been for many had these synoptics occurred in mid-winter.

  8. bye bye winter, hello Spring!

Fast forwarding to October would be like going to sleep on Friday night and waking up Monday morning!

    3. Scorcher

I know, I don't get it, light is a basic human need so I really don't understand how people can go without it. In a physical sense there are many degenerative diseases that are virtually unheard of as you get closer to the equator- multiple sclerosis for example gets more common the further away from the equator you go. In the winter our vitamin D levels are below what they should be and for some people who never expose their skin to the sun, they are chronically deficient.

    4. Summer Sun

      Summer Sun

What a stunning way to start spring, no wind, not a cloud in the sky perfect :D

  9. What a nice day. 18c and sunny, felt really warm in the sun, could have easily worn shorts and a tshirt. Spring has begun

Certainly looks like spring next week, since when has 15C not been a spring temperature??

Aaron, 16C tomorrow again, and then 13-14s for the next few days. The sun has gained a lot of strength now, Spring has begun.

  10. Spring has now arrived here. Sun really adds warmth to the day now

  11. have to say I do agree with you RE model output thread and people only posting what they want to see

  12. Lovely spell... at least it's only 4 and a half months untill we start seeing signs of Spring and yet more warmth!

    1. Milhouse

Providing we get a mild winter we might even see snowdrops in flower a little over 3 months from now. But before then i would like a winter of cold frosty mornings, some raging mild southwesterlies and a nice dumping of snow. A nice varied winter isnt too much to ask is it.

    2. Derp Patrol

      Derp Patrol

Yes I'd like some cold as well, just not for too long please as it hurts the heating bills and can get tedious after a while

  13. pretty sure that we will hit 30C again today. It actually feels very pleasant, not the uncomfortable heat from June where it felt more like 40C than 33C. Mid 20s and lots of sun for the reliable time frame here, it's amazing some people on here think August is an autumnal month.. it is basically the same as July average temperature wise!

    1. Eugene

Same as February having almost the same CET as January, it still can be spring like at times especially mid month onwards if you get the right setup same applies to August it can be autumnal at times IF you get the right setup like early next week

    2. Costa Del Fal

      Costa Del Fal

I agree Rob, personally i think people like to "wish" August as being Autumnal thus allowing them to think Winter is getting closer. It is but August will rarely seem like it was moving towards winter because its very similar to July on average.

  14. 27C and not a cloud in sight at the moment.. bliss!

  15. sunny and 24C - quite pleasant today

    1. Eugene

Yes and humid too, i am astounded at the moaning to be honest, everybody is enjoying the warmth in gardens etc

  16. been a good week.. startded with 33C on Monday and then now sunny days of 21-24C and getting slightly warmer next week! :)

    1. Eugene

It hasnt been 21C to 24C in recent days but this weekend yes possible

  17. It's been a great May so far, sunny and about 20C on most days! feels like we've been in summer for 2 months already, with a likely hot june to come what more could i ask for :)

    1. 95 Degrees

      95 Degrees

all we need is a atlantic dominated late july/august and then that'll be another faded summer, I don't do negativity though so roll on summer!

    2. feb1991blizzard

Yes it has been a great may so far, cool temps cloudy and showery here. great start but i am still adamant that it will go downhill at the end with some warm hot sunshine, still we can enjoy the cloudy showery weather for the next week.

    3. Bottesford

Who's this 'we' you speak of?

  18. another nice day at 25c :)

  19. Like everyone else is saying, what a perfect day! for those who watched the Chelsea match, that's what it was like here! a sunny and hot beautiful day clouding over and producing a thunderstorm in early evening. What a good April it's been!

  20. 25C could be reached sooner than expected!

  21. first BBQ of the year :D

  22. great day, unbroken sunshine, 25C. A rareity since early July here

  23. very poor day, just 19C and grey skies, very very poor for August and this summer is getting worse :\

  24. very muggy.. about 25C but feels about 30C!

  25. The great weather continues! 25C today, 23C on the next days, then warming up again by the weekend! :)
