There's an old saying in Welsh - 'eira man, eira mawr'. It means fine snow, big snow. So I reckon we're in for some eira mawr!!

Bit puzzling, it's been snowing steadily here (Radyr) for about 5 hours now but not a lot has stuck. Look out the window and it's coming down fast although small(ish) flakes. Roads are slush more than anything, with a distinct greyish look about them.
I agree, it seems to be snowing and thawing at the same time which really weird!!
-
can someone make it a sticky about ground too wet and snow not being able to stick, even though that isn't true?
snowing in adamsdown.
What a good idea! Every time someone says it I can feel my blood pressure rising. Where are you Tony H - you need to tell these people - have you given up!
-
yeah. and the worst part? the daughter persuaded me to walk up. so up we trudged.
CLOSED!
NOOOOOOOOOOOO disaster!! Oh well, better for your heath I suppose!!
-
dilemma
got a bad feeling about this weather, and I have no ale in the house, and Asda is 3 quarters of a mile away.
oh well
WALKIES!
edit - Sod it. gave up after 2 hundred yards. coffee will do for tonight. I'll see if I'm feeling more up for it tomorrow. probably all be gone by then.
Surely the whole point of being on this forum and having some kind of idea what weather is on the way is to make sure that you don't end up running out of beer at the wrong time!?!?!
-
Rain today radar showing precip. in your part of the world - please tell me it isn't rain.
Good luck tonight
-
Looking at the rain today radar, bottom edge seems to be intensifying as it hits land in France. Hopefully will do the same for Pays de Galles!
Good luck everybody!!
-
I love the way we all believe the models out in FI but once its on the doorstep with a red warning over some and an amber over most, we all start doubting that it's even going to snow - nowt funny as folk!!
-
The BBC website gets it wrong a lot, light rain/snow will probably reach us tonight.
Lets hope so. Let me know when it reaches you and I'll start watching the lamp-post!
-
I'm confused - the BBC forecast shows no precipitation at all for Cardiff tonight but there is a massive blob of something on rain today radar unless I am very much mistaken!?!?

For Friday or earlier?
Friday says Derek and since he is a national institution I have complete faith in him!!! Then again, who really cares about Pembrokeshire - I just want to know what's happening in Cardiff!
(Only joking Pembs )
-
Shame the dangler consisted of rain not snow though.
True!!!
Snow on the way though.......
-
Nice to hear Derek talking about the famous Pembrokeshire dangler earlier! Oh and the blizzards he said were on the way of course
-
Just rain here. Very boring. Am bored of rain Wake me up when something interesting happens (in Cardiff!)
-
Hi everyone. Nice to be back!
I like these charts!!!

Bit disappointed by the lack of welcome in the hillsides (or the Welsh forum)...
Anyway, I'm off home tomorrow, so I wish you a snowy winter next year
Emma - it's not you, its the weather - usually you would be welcomed with open arms and force fed Welsh cakes until you could pronounce Llanelli without spitting on everyone within a 5 mile radius. But mother nature has found it fit this year to disappoint us at every turn and the forum has been very quiet of late! Hope your holiday was good - and that you had a better welcome from the 'actual' locals. xx

Is the ppn still going to shift west my head is hurting looking for positive signs of snow? I cant get on rain today to check is there any other free radars so i can look as well
Give up, go to bed. Much too much hot air for snow!!
-
Hmm..... that awkward feeling you get when you actually start believing all the ramping, and telling all your friends and looking like a d***head when it rains.
-
Far too marginal to call IMO. I don't think it's going to come to much. But I would so love to be wrong!! Last Friday of the half term - snow day would be an added bonus!
-
Fair enough. I would also rate their map with the mostly identical shades of blue as being possibly the most pointless waste of pixels on the web (IMO)! Raining in Cardiff, and feeling milder. All the pretty snow washed away. Never mind - I'm going with netweather's 60% chance of snow on Wednesday - even though they reckoned there was an 8% chance of snow today and it snowed most of the day
-
A bit unfair on the BBC I think - they forecast on Tuesday evening that a front would come in and that there would be snow on its leading edge. That was more or less what happened. I was surprised that they forecasted it so early at the time but I think they were more or less spot on. It's easy to blame the forecaster when you don't get the weather you want! And no, I am not a weather person and I don't work for the Beeb!!
-
What I want to know is who jinxed us all by going to tesco to buy a sledge and an extra loaf 'just in case'? Come on, own up
Sorry ignore that, just spotted some snow chains by the back door - it is my husbands fault - sorry everyone
-
Can't see much happening here but it was never forecast for me anyway!! Still raining and feels quite mild and what is worse, either the council has moved the lamp post out the back or it's not working and the one further up the street is too far to tell what's going on

And there would justifiably be some p****ed off voters if we spent millions on snowploughs etc that would be used every blue moon
