  1. Still coming down hard, smaller flakes now though. I'll take some photos in the morning down by the Lake.
  2. 2-3cm fresh since I arrived, and the wind is definitely dropping now, although the moderate snow is still falling.
  3. Sorry, but there's no way that's more than a couple of inches deep!
  4. The wind has picked up once more, hopefully it won't spoil the Narnia-esque landscape outside. I'm really looking forward to seeing the mountains clocked in snow in the morning! Still pelting it down here, hopefully it continues all night as forecast.
  5. The wind has picked up once more, hopefully it won't spoil the Narnia-esque landscape outside. I'm really looking forward to seeing the mountains clocked in snow in the morning!
  6. Heavy snow back on. Could be a significant fall by the end of this.
  7. Eased off to small flakes here, 0.1C according to the Met Office station.
  8. Best frontal event I've seen all year, although I do live in Newcastle where most of the snow comes from the North Sea. I've measured the table and its 4cm, but that could be doubled by the morning at this rate.
  9. According to the radar I should be getting snizzle, but there are actually some pretty big flakes just now.
  10. Large flakes now, about 1cm on the car in the last hour.
  11. Coming down like the clappers here, the car is coveted already since I arrived half an hour ago.
  12. A decent cover near Keswick where I am now, about 5cm. The A66 between Keswick and Penrith was atrocious with some large drifts by the roadside, spreading right across the road in places. The radar doesn't look that great, but its still snowing quite hard at the minute.
  13. About 5cm here near Keswick, far more than that on the A66 between Penrith and Keswick though with some pretty bad stretches where the snow is drifting onto the road. Its coming down quite heavily now, hopefully there'll be more than this by the morning.
  14. The snow has thawed in Keswick judging by the webcams. I'll soon find out as I'm setting off for the Lakes in an hour of so.
  15. Do you think I'll get to Keswick alright? We aren't setting off until about 6pm now.
  16. Nothing here obviously, but Keswick is looking quite white for when I travel over later: http://www.georgefisher.co.uk/pages/webcam.asp
  17. Keswick looks quite snowy - I'm off this evening so hopefully it isn't too wet there! http://www.georgefisher.co.uk/pages/webcam.asp It is allegedly below freezing according to the Met Office.
  18. I'm pretty hopeful about my chances in Keswick tomorrow judging by the current progress of the front.
  19. The NAE puts eastern Cumbria in a rain shadow, but not the Lakes. I'm hoping to see some in Keswick, I don't think I've ever seen more than a few inches of snow there. The NAE has Keswick down for ~17cm by 6am Saturday.
  20. *and severe weather enthusiasts. The snow will fall whether anyone wants it or not, so we may as well enjoy it. I don't see why anyone likes cars, drinking, hiking, actually going outside the house (!) as all of these could be life threatening.
  21. The NAE gives Keswick 17cm of snow by Saturday at 06:00. If that comes off I won't complain as another 5cm or so would likely fall from the second band during the day.
  22. Only slightly. Cumbria looks like getting absolutely pasted by the end of tomorrow and into Saturday, whereas the NE is looking a bit iffy for precipitation amounts still. Definitely a case of radar watching tomorrow. A light sprinkling of snow here this morning.
  23. I'm in the Lakes this weekend, fingers crossed for plenty of precipitation as it doesn't look marginal to me.
  24. Cumbria looks non marginal to me, snow all the way. Fingers crossed anyway, there is a risk that the precipitation won't actually get that far north.
