  1. Not much snow in Newcastle, but I was in Cumbria two weeks ago when that frontal snow event occurred. I hadn't really seen a proper blizzard with as much drifting since March 2006 so I'd say that made this month incredible for me. Also last Wednesday I was in edinburgh and there was an inch or so lying on the south side of the city. The longetivity of the cold has been amazing of course.
  2. Had some heavy snow showers this morning in edinburgh, then we travelled through one on the train to the north of Berwick this evening. There was about 1-2 inches lying in the south of the city near the ring road, but nothing in the city centre bar a few piles of snow.
  3. The radar looks as though things could get interesting soon. Boulmer is down though as per usual lately (I think its Boulmer which keeps going offline) so it isn't giving a very accurate picture. I don't want anything too beefy mind as I have to travel to Edinburgh and back tomorrow.
  4. Heavy shower of snow and grauple blowing through now.
  5. Had some decent snow showers today, not much of a covering though.
  6. Light dusting of snow here with a few light flurries.
  7. It was absolutely fine yesterday, no snow at all hardly.
  8. Back in Newcastle now. Some incredible snow drifts visible from the A66 east of Keswick, with one cottage plastered up to the upstairs window, although it was melting well in the sunshine. No lying snow by the time we got to Penrith.
  9. Hovering at +0.5C due to the cloud and continuous snizzle. We really don't want this snow to freeze tonight or it'll be a nightmare trying to get home.
  10. Gavin is actually just posting what he sees on the charts - perhaps if he added a comment about it being way out in FI, unlikely to come off etc, people would get off his back. It's true that in October (when the temperature is in the mid teens), people will start posting about impending doom from a northerly toppler at +300hrs without as much backlash as Gavin has been getting.
  11. Finally stopped snowing in Keswick - that's over 40 hours of continuous snow.
  12. Maximum temperature of +0.8C here according to the Met Office station, but then it hasn't really stopped snowing all day.
  13. It was bad enough driving along the A66 last night in the dark!
  14. It's a slushy mess down in the town centre, but away from there the snow is still lying well with little thawing. It's a bit bleak this afternoon with persistent light snow and that nagging wind.
  15. Still snowing in Keswick, although its much lighter now. Some amazing scenes around the area, although I wend into town earlier and its a bit of a slushy mess down there.
  16. Persistent light snow still this morning, although it is definitely brightening up. A couple of inches on the grass here which isn't bad for Cumbria, especially in March. The Lake District really does look beautiful in the snow, I haven't seen it like this for a couple of years.

  18. I'm off to bed now, but its still coming down pretty hard.
  19. The radar often seems dodgy in frontal snowfalls, I don't know why though. It certainly was two weeks ago, last time I was in keswick, and an area of light snow spread in from the east but the radar looked dry.
  20. Getting heavier again here. These orographic snowfalls render the radar useless.
  21. Light snow here now with a depth of 4-6cm. It is even settling in the town centre now judging by the webcam.
  22. The front is fizzling out now, I really can't see the NE getting anything. Smaller flakes here too, so I don't think I'll get much more than the 4-6cm that I already have.
