Had that heavy snow shower here too, started as sleet though. Sun back out now but it's only 2C. Very festive!

I for one hope that the storm misses us, there's nothing more unpleasant than severe gales in my opinion. Also I've been in the Midlands for a month so far and it never seems to stop raining!

Had quite an intense downpour in the outskirts of Coventry today.

Not a bad evening with some sunshine here, although it has clouded over again now and the temperature didn't get above 19°C. Tomorrow looks fiercly hot further south with thunderstorms starting to break out, very tropical!

The latest GFS is an absolute stonker for our region if you want storms, enjoy this week you lot!

Looks great for NE England as usual, unfortunately I'll be in Florida.

Much cooler here today as well. I reckon the NE could catch a storm around the middle of this week but I'm going to Florida on Monday so I'll miss out, although I'd be surprised if I don't see any there!

Lovely temperatures up here today, it has been far too hot down in Oxford this weekend so I'm glad to have some more comfortable weather, though its still pleasantly warm!

Didn't go above 17C yesterday, and today looks like going the same way at this rate. Looking forward to a hot weekend though, I'll be down south so the heat should last through the weekend.

Reached 30°C in my back garden this afternoon. I see the official temperatures for the North East were 27-29°C today! Its still 21°C now, perfect for sitting out.

28 here now, still going up. I suspect the official temperatures will be over 25 now

The temperature here has levelled off at 26C with a lovely summer breeze.

Looks like the best of the storms have finished now, the showers which are heading this way look much less organised than the previous bands did. Can't complain though, today was much better than I expected! This Friday will be exactly one year on from 'Thunder Thursday' - amazing how fast time goes by!

The rain is coming down in torrents now although I think I can see the edge of the shower, and the thunder has stopped.

Really torrential rain now and plenty more showers coming out of SE Scotland.
I was looking at blitzortung. The strikes seem to line up with the brightest radar echo areas. I guess it depends on the processing delay also - how quick it gets uploaded to the website.
Thanks, it was cloud to cloud lightning so maybe its hard to pinpoint exactly where it was as well. The heaviest precipitation was west of Newcastle this time, so that would tie up with the lightning detector.

The thunder seems to be less frequent now. The worst of the rain seems to have been further west this time so I only got a heavy shower rather than a downpour.

How accurate is the lightning detector? It has a bunch of strikes out to the west over Ponteland, but most of the ones I have seen have been to the north?

Wow very close strike, the heaviest rain has passed me by this time but the lightning seems to be almost overhead.

Lots of car alarms going off now as the thunder was so loud!
