  1. Thinking perhaps the sea breeze will keep it inland from the coast... Might explain why i have such a good view of it here in blazing sunshine with monster snow white cauliflower tops towering overhead to the NW!
  2. Watching it build to my NW from here in Folkestone. Massive towers going straight up! Fingers crossed! B)
  3. Flake size dropping, intensity increasing. Temp 1.5C and dropping slowly. Even wet surfaces now starting to get covered.
  4. Gives you a taste of current conditions in downtown Folkestone... Laz
  5. Lovely loop here showing the bands of cloud coming at us from the continent with the rising sun giving a real feel of depth... http://www.sat24.com/gb Laz
  6. Yes... started here in Folkestone about an hour ago. You can see the small clump that suddenly expanded and started the current snowfall. We had none overnight at all... You can see it develop in this loop... http://www.meteox.co.uk/h.aspx?r=&jaar...;soort=loop1uur Laz
  7. Yep... the first bit of this lot we're getting now just seemed to expand as it came across the 20 miles of sea or so from France. Light to moderate but steady here... was expecting sleet! Laz

  9. Well... the first of the stuff coming over from the continent has just hit Folkestone... and we're meant to be well inside the warm slice of east kent, with sleet / rain. No chance! it's snow! And settling on the remains of yesterdays... Light at the moment.. but snow none the less! Fingers crossed we catch up with the rest of you! Laz
  10. There's a button... two squares to the right of the "smilies" above the reply panel Sarah. That's good for stuff online like Flickr... Laz
  11. Just dashed up M20 to Ashford and back and vis is down to under 50m in places with the outside lane totally white. Some VERY heavy showers just to the North of us. Very patchy though... And the texture, flakes, density is so variable from one minute to the next! Laz
  12. This is handy for checking conditions around the area. The highways Agency traffic cams... http://www.trafficengland.com/TCC/Schemati...le/ViewTable.do Select a motorway, tick "cameras" and go... Good for checking destinations if venturing out too. Laz
  13. Handy Dover Webcam looking out to sea. Good view of the clouds... (Not much snow though... still light flurries here in Folkestone) Laz
  14. Snow blowing around in the air... Folkestone Better get partner to Ashford for work... picking her up later today might be a different story though! Do KCC supply sleeping bags? Laz
  15. Anyone else having trouble with XC Weather ? Seems like only four sets of obs on there!
  16. Langdon Bay just hit zero with brisk ESE gusting to 37mph... and it feels like it out there putting the recycling out and putting out the max/min thermometer i just dug out of the cupboard. Your right to say it really has got to go some here in Folkestone to get over the maritime effect. But climb the hills at the back and it's doesn't take much to get out of the warm wet zone. Laz
  17. Hi All.... just joined. I remember watching it track across the country and reading the reports as it passed in uk.sci.weather. It's progress was so steady I quite enhanced my weather geek status by not saying anything till a few minutes before it came through. A wall of misty white swept up the road. A few mins of rain with increasing winds and a sharp temperature drop behind it turning to thundersnow. One of those memorable weather events... very dramatic seeing it march up the road like that!
