  1. The hills around me are probably nice & white though, just can't see them right now lol
  2. Meanwhile the heavier outbreaks in the SW have become a bit lighter
  3. I'm really nervous to press refresh on the Meto radar for the 0030 update incase it's begun moving East!!
  4. Snowing here too but wet.. and blowing around. Wants to settle.. (or is that me?) but not getting much of a chance!
  5. Latest Meto radar shows much heavier stuff heading into South Wales
  6. Liam Dutton on N24 mentioned SE Wales amongst the other affected areas But the graphics just showed an added lighter blob of white across South Wales, detached from the main band across Southern England Said that Cardiff etc could start with some snow tomorrow morning
  7. Sorry, I'm focusing on Wales. I meant it seems to have stalled or slowed a lot in terms of its northern boundary Meanwhile the heavier stuff continues to pulse northwards through the southwest
  8. Look at the latest Meto radar & you can see the front is stalling...
  9. I'm left totally confused now, esp. after the national Beeb forecast with Darren Bett I'm convinced it is a live broadcast - so he probably saw the charts & radar & other information no less than 20 mins before going on air...! Meto released the Wales snow warning just after half 8 this evening....
  10. Darren Bett on the NATIONAL forecast didn't mention Wales & snow ONCE. Not even the VERY FAR Southeast, which was in the risk zone for a bit of snow anyway!!
  11. Have really enjoyed the snow this week - can't remember it being this snowy for a long time (that said, I am only 21...) Would love some sunny and 'warm' Winter weather now - let's have a nice anticyclone next week, light winds, blue sky and temps of 12 & 13!!!
  12. Cracking morning here in Maesteg. Snowed most of the night and then chucked it down heavier from 8am til around 11ish - major roads were barely passable, but side roads were treacherous. Partly cloudly with sunshine now. Still a good 5 or 6 inches on the ground and it looks marvellous. Pic taken 10am just outside town centre.
  13. Looks like for the rest of the night, the MAIN precip in Wales will be concentrated on RCT, Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Powys & parts of Ceredigion, with bits flirting with the Vale and Cardiff. This big swathe is moving very slowly Southwestwards with a few heavier green echoes. Wouldn't imagine Newport or Monmouthshire would get much else than a few flurries or light showers. But the radar has surprised me a couple of times tonight, so who knows!
  14. Still going steady here in Maesteg - has been for a good few hours. Am amazed how long-lasting it is... And just when you think the ppn is dying down or moving away on the radar, it begins to liven up again and move over...
  15. Bearing in mind... The BBC do keep reiterating that the Southwest & South Wales will have showers in the early part of tomorrow morning too - so rush hour could be interesting if it's still snowing.
  16. I wouldn't envy being a Met Office forecaster this week. It was anticipated just 36-48 hours ago that the cold spell would be leaving us later Fri into the weekend; then it was slowly extended through to Sat and Sun with a cold northerly. Now GFS is throwing up something a bit more snowy. I think I'll trust the UKMO charts tomorrow morning over tonight's GFS. They *were* going for some biting temperatures across what would have been left of the snowfields on the weekend nights... down widely to -5/-6, locally minus double figures in Scotland.
  17. Michael Prys-Roberts... I think it's just a neutral-grade; neither down or up. Weds was always expected to be a couple of degrees milder - aiding a thaw, certainly in low-lying places. Again prone spots inland will hover near zero as always. I was quite surprised by the forecast night-time temps midweek. The Meto aren't putting any huge detail on the developments for Thursday/Friday yet because they probably want to get all of today's & tomorrow's headaches out of the way first. Warmer upper air is pushed further north on Weds and into Thurs with the low coming up from the South, soon met by a tasty northerly blasting it back down - so who knows what could happen on the northern edge of the weather fronts - or where that northern edge will be! Central Eng & Wales & hillier parts probably!
  18. If the latest 18z GFS charts are to be believed... There are plenty of marginal rain/sleet/snow events to come in the near future for Wales & the Southwest corner. Later Thurs into Friday. Then Saturday. And again later Sunday perhaps. With each run the cold-spell seems to be dragged out a bit further. But GFS does have a cold bias to it. Worth keeping an eye on what the FAX charts & UKMO come out with tomorrow morning.
  19. Wales & the Southwest are sat directly underneath a low pressure system so it's expected that the anticlockwise spiralling movements of ppn will continue. Personally, I didn't expect the ppn to be so long-lasting and persistent.
  20. Wintry Wales... Keep checking the radar following the link from kumquat earlier in this thread. Half-hourly updates available from the Met Office on that link, and hourly regional ones for Wales
  21. Still snowing lightly here in Maesteg. Waiting for that green blob thats developed around Cardiff North & West to head Westwards slap-bang across RCT & Bridgend ... It's taking its time though!
