  1. Good for lack of disruption for fam travelling over Christmas but Bad for storing the beer outside.
  2. Sun's popping out now; first time in over a week i reck.
  3. 70s winters, down here were virtually snowless until Feb '78 and then the classic 78/79 winter. 80s had a few decent snow events as well imby.
  4. Chucking it down here, 11c and so so dark. However, local weather folklore says the sun is coming out to play this afters. Cant remember the last day the glowing ball of fire was seen here.
  5. Here's a suggestion. Why not get outta da house and actually live a bit, rather than digest computer output?!
  6. Grey, dark, 10c However The heating clicked on for only 20 mins earlier and obs decided "stuff this - i dont need to be on duty this morn". Luverly jubberly
  7. Dull, drizzly morning. It's been sunny here since just after midday. Temp hovering around 10-11c. Some cloud appearing now though.
  8. 10c, sunny. Heating clicked off at 07.30, after only being on for one hour this morning. More of the same please for rest of Winter.
  9. I dont recall MattH doing any such thing; cant remember seeing him use the term "wintry nirvana". I think he said a couple of weeks back that colder weather *may* start to show its hand late December/early January.
  10. Hmm....but it's not the heat, it's the prolonged dry spells that aid the arsonists OR error re a barby out of control (for example). If we had 2 months of dry weather in Summer, but temps of say 23c max every day that would create the tinderbox conditions, just as much as only 10 days of dry and temps of 34c every day.
  11. Yep. Who wants to spend over £150 on food and booze in the days leading up to Xmas day, as one has fam and friends around on 'the day' and after, only for visitor plans to be cancelled because of snow and ice? Plus, of course, the savings on energy useage as the heating can stay off. Oh, and in defence of SunnyG, this thread is NOT a Winter Exclusive Snow thread. Carry on.
  12. As you mention "glasses", i reck they just havent got any rose-tinted ones
  13. BartyHater - add your location in please, permanently, to your profile
  14. Remember December '81 v well; proper wintry/snowy month.
  15. Late December "The chance of a colder spell of weather, with hazard such as snow and ice, does increase later in December and into the New Year period." One could write that every year, as it'll be late December, early January. Of course, there's a chance 3+ weeks out - who writes this stuff for Meto?
  16. And here, in SG. Grey, damp, cloudy, 6c, really dark at just after midday. But an improvement on yesterday's deluge.
  17. Dont fall for that Every-Winter Pony from the 'other' thread, Josh. Sometimes it does happen, but more often than not The Atlantic just rolls back in to Blighty. 'We' are, after all, predominately a Maritime climate; nowt's changed on that front.
  18. Back from a very rainy 1 day stay in Cardiff to an....erm.....very rainy SG Winter in the South West, eh,...dont you just love it?
  19. In Cardiff today and tonight. Lashing down with cold rain - i thought Bristol was bad enough in Winter
  20. 3c and raining now. During daylight only just reached 0.5c. A waste of cold, waste of heating bills. Hopefully the remainder of Winter will be very mild.
