    K5 buoy is one to keep an eye on tonight, centre of the low should pass nearby http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=64045 Later on in the night as the centre moves eastwards, K7 will be one to watch http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=64046 Pressure falling rapidly at K5 now, 993.7mb and tendency is -4.9mb. Will be interesting to see how low this one gets

    Yeah, quite a large number of the E to W's travelled up over Greenland today, routing so that they missed the strong tailwinds.

    I imagine they'll be some quick transatlantic flights going west to east tonight/early tomorrow! Some very streamlined middle/high level cloud here in the last half hour

    Another superb source of imagery is http://www.sat.dundee.ac.uk/, you can create a free account and view polar orbiting satellite imagery from both the NOAA sats and the EUMETSAT sats (Metop)

    Met Office warnings issued at 1013 - amber extended Forth-Clyde Valley looking rough A vigorous depression is expected to run rapidly east passing northern Scotland on Thursday night and Friday morning. Winds will begin to increase late on Thursday to give a period of very strong westerly winds through the Forth-Clyde valley, with gusts 60-70 mph quite widely, and isolated gusts to 80 mph. Winds should quickly ease from the west during the morning. The public should be prepared for the potential for disruption to transport, and are advised to check latest forecasts before travelling. Power supplies may also be affected and there is the possibility of structural damage. Bawbag Jr?

    06z GFSp, looks like a rough ride for Scotland 3am 6am Highest winds look fairly short-lived but if I recall Bawbag was fairly similar

    Like many others, has to be 2010 by a mile. 20-25cm of lying snow here, double that in the countryside. Temperatures sub zero all day with night time lows of -11/-12C on a few occasions. The constant stream of North Sea convective showers in the form of snow, hail and graupel was absolutely beautiful. Also had a few thundersnow events which kept things very interesting!

    Anyone heading out to watch this tonight/tomorrow? Waning gibbous moon does rise at the back of 10 though so will wash out the faintest but we should still see the brightest coming through Forecast looks good for most of Scotland, eastern N.Ireland and the bulk of England

    Chucked it down here for the last 20 mins or snow. Initially wasn't lying but now is Temp now 0.4C, down from 1.5C. Will be going out in a sec to take a few pics

    two pretty large flashes of lightning here around 15-20 mins ago, nothing since and seems to be brightening up again

    4 rumbles of thunder in the last 20 mins but no lightning sighted yet. Feels ominous

    Waiting for the cell over in fife to cross the forth and survive, just taken a southward turn towards Edinburgh at 1500 though . Might get side swiped if i'm lucky

    Crystal clear here, huge diffuse green band 45 degrees up, looks like high cloud but wow! hoping it improves going towards local midnight EDIT 2201: Incredible display, streaks, vertical stacks, greens with occasional pinks. All up to 50 degrees high

    More than likely Glasgow Intl as it usually handles 777's. Edinburgh could in theory but Glasgow's runway is slightly longer
