  1. That's got Lundy in it, too! Fascinating 24hrs coming up...
  2. It's wild at Fresh at the best of times, so take care!! Good question... also will the low pressure equal a sea-level 'bulge'? Whilst I love a good storm, I hope there's no injuries.
  3. Nowcasting from this point forward. I guess there's more unknowns on this occasion due to the unusual nature of this storm. Tbh... headline wind strength, atm, is not actually that unusual for round here (maybe once in a three or four years event?) but the on-shore wind combined with the forecast huge swell (SWerly direction) and hightide is a worry. A further shift Ewards would exacerbate any issues. Literally the calm before the storm here: a balmy 15/16c and hardly a breath of wind...
  4. Guess we'll have to see if Met O update their warnings for W areas of mainland UK...
  5. That road gets covered in storm debris/ rocks from the beach/sea in a 'usual' storm! Not sure if the fact it's a pretty small tide will make a difference in this case...
  6. Might see you there! They take a card on the bridge these days.
  7. Swell forecast remains consistent in pushing a 10m+ swell up Irish Sea.
  8. Could be a good call. It'll be one of the places I'll be checking out... from the bar at the Wiseman's Bridge Inn.
  9. Could be a good call. It'll be one of the places I'll be checking out... from the bar at the Wiseman's Bridge Inn.
  10. Yep- great place; good surf (at times). I'm originally from Ulverston, so I know the Ulverston-Barrow coast road pretty well... it'll be a bit hairy down there Mon/Tues, I'd have thought!!
  11. Any SW facing beach in Pembs is going to have exceptionally large swell Monday into Tuesday, probably peaking after dark on Monday evening. Freshwater West being the most exposed of these; Newgale probably 2nd best (road may be closed along seafront). Having said that, large autumn surf isn't unusual in these places, so impact may be less spectacular. If you're looking for impact, maybe Wiseman's Bridge to Amroth/Pendine might be a good place. I've seen the road E of Amroth literally washed away after the 2014(?) storm/s. High-tide is late afternoon.
  12. Enjoy! Further north from there, Llansantffraed/ Llanrhystud, should be being impacted by the swell more than New Quay so maybe worth checking out.
  13. Trust me, weather action is the only action you'll be seeing round here! Deffo try to get to the coast, especially during the afternoon (high tide late afternoon)., I'm sure it'll be quite spectacular... Wind's going to be southerly, so I'd expect quite a bit of over-topping Wiseman's Bridge to Pendine, if the forecast holds true. (Obviously the swell will be bigger on the west facing beaches but the impact may be less).
  14. Main body of swell now forecast to be directly up Irish Sea (as opposed to w.coast of Eire as earlier progged). Epic for SW.Wales coastline. Owners of boats in Tenby, Pembs, been advised to remove their boats from the water! What's the chance of further eastwards corrections of storm path in coming hours?
  15. Suddenly everybody wants in the Wales/Cymru thread!! Ha. Front page news in The Tenby Observer next week...
  16. Ha- what a laugh- glad someone else is able to back me up!! Cheers pal.
  17. Back to Rain/sleet now... Still, fun while it lasted! I guess I can upload video onto here? (just to remove any doubt!!!)
  18. 3/2/17: The Great Blizzard of Tenby
  19. Actually more snow than rain now!! Nearly proper snow! Bet it's tumping it down inland...
  20. Heavy sleet in Tenby; some big white slushy flakes in it!! C'mon!! (It's all relative I guess...) (And Congrats Mrs andymusic- good luck for the next rounds!)
  21. Latest GFS showing high pressure to NW and solid northerly for next weekend... worth keeping an eye on.
  22. Bit random, but radar showing significant front/system entering n.scotland atm. Wonder where that's off to? Polar low?
  23. Sleety shower just passed through Tenby... but, hey, that's pretty good for here!
