      Isolated Frost

forgive my narrow views but I'd only sign issues closer to home

  2. Are these temperatures so horrific to some due to a physiological reason that it's December or does it really feel that bad if you ignore the month?

Many parts of the US for example that get winter weather which makes people jealous every year can also get into the 20's in the winter

  3. Hi James, thanks for the comment. yeh its nice to know theres someone else about my age on here.

Also I really like some of the photography ive seen from you in the photography section!

  4. 'Bitterly cold' is becoming a very overused term...

Haha indeed, according to our local forecast a slightly below average 6-7C is bitterly cold..

I created a thread about precisely this kind of things a while back....I have heard the terms bitterly cold, very raw and icy wind used several times this winter, but not once with an ambient temp forecast to be a sitting at less that 5c. It's just getting silly now, media forecasters have completely lost all sense of perspective regarding temps. It's not just with regard to cold too, I can remember back in Nov when we had minima around 14c, (OK very mild for the time of year) a BBC forecaster described it as a 'very uncomfortable night for sleeping'...utter drivel.

  5. Apart from tomorrow night at 9C, Exeter isn't forecast to go below 10C for the next week..

Well, about time we break some records after the most boring year on record...

  6. Blimey two days with decent amounts of sun forecast. I'm excited.

      four seasons in one day

Some places could do with a couple of months worth!  Nice to see nonetheless before more crap tomorrow. Wouldn't be so bad if it hadn't been so miserable for what seems half the year.

  7. I don't understand why you would by a nice river side house, with attendant land (outside of the garden) which the previous owners have spent decades making beautiful with willow trees etc to create a little riverside woodland, and then go and cut the whole lot down?! If you want somewhere without trees, buy somewhere without trees! don't go and wreck somewhere nice. Sadly there's some idiots living around here..

  8. Not sure what's worse, our weather or the moaning about it...

Yeah it's actually a pleasant evening out! June was wretched but it really hasn't been that bad in the last week or so.

I'm moaning because it's peering down on a mid summer weekend day yet again. If it was dry sunny and warm I wouldn't be....simples

  9. On Wednesday night the minimum, yes minimum temperature for Exeter is forecast to be 14C.. That's safely above the average July minimum.

    1. William Grimsley

      William Grimsley

It's got to be one of the highest December night temperatures ever recorded at Exeter! :D

Yes I imagine it must be up there with the highest

  10. Reached 14.7C with sunny intervals earlier.. decent spring day (or is it still Autumn?)

  11. Why do BBC forecasts on some days use global model resolution charts even on the regional forecasts? It's like the provider fails to provide more detailed charts sometimes.. I guess you get what you pay for.

  12. -0.6C after reaching -0.5C, is this a max of -0.5C, in the SW , on low ground, in November? also without snow cover.

    1. Somerset Squall

      Somerset Squall

Could be back in the freezer by end of Jan though conditions like earlier in the week wont please some though, they hate mild and very cold only heavy snow with temps of -20C will please them :)..at least the mildies are more appreciative of mild even if not excessive :)

      Evening thunder

Suppose so but not really as this is a very nice area and I don't mind the odd bit of mild, and yep there may be some cold spells in Feb, and there might not be

  21. 16C, damp and drizzly now

  22. 21.6C and 24.5C with sun, Surely better and less boring than 17.9C and cloudy all day?
