  1. Rain all night and it's still going. Not a good start. Amber warning further South for the IOW and waterside.
  2. Just managed to get a grass cut in before the rain arrives later. Off for few days now and no college this week, so I get a week off the latin. Plenty to do though, so hoping for some decent enough weather.
  3. Not had one for a while. Hoping to walk this evening too. In other news, just had the planning application approved for change of use for the new bit of field from agri to garden use, so no excuses now.
  4. Still there. We used to ski on the dry slope on a Thursday after school and play 5 aside in the hangers. Quite a set up they have really.
  5. Not very nice today, but the rain hasn't been that heavy. Got to head down Fawley way after work, so we might grab some fish and chips, then scoff them watching the waves at Calshot.
  6. Exactly. It was a bit of a shock. Still had my shorts on, by force of habit. At least it was sunny earlier. Cloudy and cold now. Not very pleasant.
  7. You can probably lose the fan now. Hygge is my middle name. They were Christmas lights, but they're not allowed to come down now. Frost overnight. 1C in the greenhouse at the moment.
  8. The briefest shower before lunch, otherwise an ideal gardening day. Found some green manure seeds, so sowed that in the raised veg beds. Turned over the compost bays, divided some grasses and got the grass cut. Temp is dropping off now as the Sun sets. Going in to light the new burner for the first time in a bit, which is quite exciting. And to watch the rugby, of course.
  9. Lovely fresh morning. Clear bue skies all around except for a few distant cloud tops on the Western horizon. Beautiful.
  10. Cloudy here too. It's trying to clear, but not trying hard enough. We still don't have any broadband, but there is at least activity up the lane. A few vans and a cherry picker, and they've shut the road at one end of the village.
  11. Last week was herbaceous perennials. We're given a list of pics and names, then we have a plant walk around the grounds to see them growing. Then learn them for next week. This is like being tested again... Acanthus mollis, Ajuga reptins 'Burgundy Glow', Stachys byzantina, Alchemilla mollis, Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue', Centaurea montana, Echinacea purpurea, Geranium 'Johnson's Blue', Phlox paniculata 'White Admiral', Vernbena bonariensis, Stipa tenuissima, Brunnera macrophyllus 'Jack Frost'. Deciduous Shrubs for next week. The fun never stops.
  12. Sowing seeds of various sizes, then composting. Rebuilt their compost bays, which was good fun. So far, so good in the plant ident tests. There seems to be one spare place, so I reckon beka could still get on at a discount. Really enjoying it. Hope you feel better tomorrow.
  13. Absolute cracker today. And now the in-laws have gone, so I can listen to the rugby in the Sunshine.
  14. Looks like the farmer has cut the fibre cable while chopping the hedges. He's got form. Plenty of blue sky appearing appearing now. OH's birthday today, so the in-laws will be descending soon for a BBQ.
