  1. The 3 week drought was ended here yesterday afternoon a few rumbles of thunder but didn't see any lightning. A brief spell of heavy rain. Nothing last evening the heavy stuff slid to the south west. Showers might be more pop-up today and possibly widespread but I'm sure some areas will again strike it lucky, while others will remain the desert tundra of the north west.
  2. Well City have got their goal...1-0 up. Might just scrape some last dregs of a cluster directly to the south...it could just wet the ground here. Otherwise the drought will continue.
  3. Barren East of the M60 thankfully my expectations of anything stormy were negligible here. Most of the action happening out to the West although a little baby as spawned close to Stretford according to the radar. Maybe a better chance tomorrow but breath will not be held. Time to see if City can do the treble...as a neutral, I might actually enjoy the match.
  4. Yes really is quite gusty here again today...warm & sunny but a bit irritating when cycling head into it...or trying to pin down any outdoor food accompaniments if your going al fresco. Might ease offa bit tomorrow
  5. Never seem to get the spectacular thunderstorms now with frequent CG Strikes....remember doing much better in the 90's. Models seem to downgrading our chances but I'm sure somewhere in the region will strike it lucky. It will feel warm and muggy though, particularly on Saturday night. Awful synoptics that only a good thunderstorm will alleviate.
  6. Ditto - cloud has been very stubborn to lift here but not surprised given how far inland I am. Fingers crossed we get back to a few more days of sunny skies before the humidity and heat hits at the end of the week. I know which I prefer for cycling to work in. I'll probably resort to laziness and take the car when the rain arrives. Just not worth the effort getting wet. It's been a rare 3 week blessing for outdoor pursuits.
  7. We must remind ourselves when we are bemoaning a washout summer in July & August that at least we had 3 weeks at the back end of May and into June were it was bloody glorious. Mind you if 1976 want's to repeat itself I won't begrudge it doing so.
  8. Much more cloudy affair today so far and a keen breeze - can understand why the east and south east are so miffed if they're having weather like this most days. Thankfully the sun is bringing even eastern dwellers of the North West region into the 'West is Best club' and starting to break though and I expect it will be a much warmer, brighter feel into the late afternoon/evening. Not long now before we peak at around 17hrs of daylight.
  9. I think you've got it...Doucoure smashing it in 57 min...at this point Leeds and Leicester joining Southampton dropping into the Championship. Quite breezy today but long sunny spells helping to the make the day a decent one again. Never thought this weather would last to make Whit Friday nice for the Saddleworth possé but they might strike it lucky this year.
  10. More cloud here today although sunny spells breaking through every now and again. Met app updating to cloudy symbols instead of bright sunshine as we go through the day but they are still going for a late afternoon clearance. Some extremely light precipitation showing on radar but nothing falling from skies, maybe high pressure is wringing it dry. Could be a little warm up as we approach bank holiday weekend. Nothing remotely wet on the horizon.....yet.
  11. Well late spring doesn't get much better than this, does it... sunshine from the word go and temps warm & comfortable near 20c... Nice breeze just too temper any unwelcome hot flushes. This spring took awhile to get going but it's making up for lost time now...how long will the good weather last?
  12. All kicking off central & south east... another pyrotechnics show we've not been invited too.... we'll probably get heavy showers here over next few days with a whimper of a low rumble the height of any excitement. On the plus side at least we've got mostly sunny skies to enjoy into the evening.
  13. Well thankfully with the rain making the turgid journey from the south it was always going to be a patchy affair when it finally made it here...a little more 'peppy' now but only wetting the ground. Good for the plants & nature etc... Hope the sun pokes through tomorrow it will feel very spring like if it does. Then not surprising currently a soaking predicted for our second Bank Holiday Monday in a row. The second of three in 5 weeks... I could get used to this! If for nothing else I'll raise a glass to Charlie for that.
  14. A little nice blossoming of home grown showers just hit some of our region. Checking the radar they basically spawned and come to life just north of Derby. Might be quite the theme for tomorrow too. A little bit of abracadabra - popping up out of nowhere.
  15. Yep we're in the last dregs of the settled spell...despite the gusty winds it's been another sunny day and in the shelter it's felt quite warm. Nice walkaround Dove stones today, cobwebs well and truly obliterated. Winds picking up ahead of the frontal band, which will be slow to arrive. Then it's a case of looking at the positives for the next few days....good rainfall for the gardens.
  16. BBC weather app won the bravery award today for forecasting sunny skies for my locality from the word go... Met App a bit sceptical with cloudy symbols from last night but soon updated to sunny spells when they read the room. Breeze has picked up and will peak tomorrow, could be quite gusty on our side of the pens as the easterly picks up. Then our few days of relatively settled weather will a distant memory as more unsettled conditions barge their way in time for the long weekend.
  17. Same old story with a nagging easterly wind.... get into some shelter but still in the rays of spring sunshine and it will feel quite nice...but facing the winds head-on and in any shade and you may as well be back in the throes of winter. Insult to injury from Friday onwards when the blessed sunshine is replaced by cold rain.
  18. Darren Bett looking a bit sheepish on the latest weather segment... now rolling back on the possibility of a plus 20c next week as cooler air cuts in from the East. Today had been very wet, and I'm looking forward to a bit of settled weather next week, even if it doesn't bring the warmer temps initially expected.
  19. The two faces are being shown today, nice sunny start warming up nicely....only to have this lot waiting in the wings to spoil the afternoon. If you were up early today and not in work, at least you've had an half-decent day.
  20. More overcast here today, fingers crossed it clears for a last sunny blast before the rain arrives into the late evening. Can't grumble at the Easter weekend so far, pretty much wall-to-wall perfect sunshine and quite warm out of the shade. We were never going to make it all the way to the finish line though, and Bank Holiday Monday heralds a changeable week ahead.
  21. More showers here today they are moving more east to west so venturing more inland...strong spring like sunshine in-between though so easy to get caught out. Next week rather wet & uninspiring and a cool down keeps showing at the end of month about as welcome as an ingrowing toe-nail for me now. I'm well shot of winter mode.
  22. Dodged the showers today - no surprise there. Most potent are springing up out to the west. Might get a few later. However I'm quite glad to keep the sunshine and warmth to be honest after quite a nippy, if not snowy winter.
  23. Feels like the first authentic Spring morning early doors so far, sun's up earlier now, hardly a breeze and quite mild (a good mild, not the 'Darren Bett' at it will be...one), birds twittering away. Possibly some heavy showers breaking out later, so best to do outdoor early. Yep complete contrast to this time last Friday.
  24. Yes I thought today's Yellow rain weather warning seemed a bit over cautious. It's been mostly dry (grey slate cloudy) so far but clouds are starting to energise and it does go to 3pm. So maybe it will be a damp afternoon but nothing noteworthy. The ground is quite sodden at the moment, and it will probably stay that way to month's end.
  25. Potent hail shower here... leaving a temporary white cover...but the sun will make short work of that when it pops out again
