  1. Looks very cool everywhere by thursday with a very cool northwesterly wind but yes the best of the warmth will be in the far southeast as it always is this time of year, looks like that ridge of HP tomorrow night could give some very chilly mins wednesday morning, local air frost in sheltered valley areas.
  2. I wish here in the dustbowl south midlands we got something like that, conor does go over the top but lately the weather does seem to of gone downhill, also even though he moans too much you cant expect him at his age to just move like that, even if he was older you just cant move away from friends and family just like that, alot of planning goes into it, i guess he might after he's finished his studies move somewhere for a job so he can be more happy, he'll probably move further north though where the weather is even worse than telford
  3. lol i hope by usual you are comparing it to other springs because you can't compare it to much since late March, we could be in for the warmest spring on record so dont tell me you are unhappy with that, why do people want heatwaves so early i want them after the summer solstice when they really can deliver, much better in July than late May.
  4. Yes it was a really fascinating spell of weather when you really don't expect it in late April, ive read on trevor harleys site of a snowstorm in the 1950's in Birmingham in May, i just can't seem to picture a snowstorm in the midlands in May it just doesnt seem possible.
  5. Glad they saw some sense, it was always a very stupid idea having sunset times around 11 pm in the June when most people need to sleep to get up for work and making the sunrise time 1 hour later in winter would be an absolute disaster, how depressing on dull mornings it wouldnt get properly light until after 9 30 am in december, it gets dark early in the afternoon in december no matter what you do adding 1 hour wouldnt make much difference at all. It was just an idea for all those lazy people who want to stay in bed in the morning.
  6. Stats maybe exciting but the actual weather is actually getting very boring now, even HP lover me is getting bored of it now and the highest warmth here is around 20C/21C yesterday in the midlands so nothing that extreme and you get really used to it after a while. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-bin/cgicurrentgraph?CEL=C&ART=karte&LANG=en&JJ=2011&MM=04&TT=20&TIME=1600&TYP=temperatursyn&KEY=MID&LAND=MID&CONT=ukuk&TIME=1303387924 The 25C+ warmth is only a southeast thing in UHI's massive urban sprawls, the vast majority of the country isnt experiencing temps anywhere that high.
  7. Gavin looking at GFS 00Z FI the high looks like retrogressing northwards with southerly tracking lows if this continued into the summer no worries about hosepipe bans, dont know about you but i am feeling winter 2011/12 could be a very cold one
  8. Yes the spell coming up looks quite cloudy, potentially mild for some though, i don't find warm weather in April unseasonable with the sun as strong as late summer, you just need HP and sunshine and it will feel warm.
  9. Looking like some very warm CET forecasts by people on here could be crashed and burned if current model output is correct, i'm thinking now the excellent start to spring has been deceiving us and it will be the best spell of weather for months hope im wrong.
  10. http://hadobs.metoffice.com/hadcet/cet_info_mean.html Cold start to March, actually very cold i think some forget even though the sun is strong the airflow has been cold, no canceled cold spell at all just nothing can change the power of the sun this time of year.
  11. I hardly remember it either being too young but read this and you'll see what a classic spell of weather it was.
  12. Can't we just reclassify the whole of winter as spring and the whole of summer as autumn, afterall alot of people say we only have two seasons all year round really in the UK.
  13. A late April 1981 repeat please, one of the most memorable spell of weather in spring in my lifetime.
  14. I have a feeling the charts are starting early a very frustrating 8 months or so of model watching, hope i'm wrong but the signs are there.
  15. Trevor Harleys January 2011 write up, interesting contrast to what some say about the cold not reaching us when infact it was generally a cold month with limited mild spells, much better than the usual dross you can get in January when the PV blasts into action.
  16. Nothing horrible about today at all, pleasant sunshine with lovely crisp air and temps still very cold.
  17. I completely agree last night the full moon was just incredibly bright with the moon light lighting your way, absolutely gorgeous, strange bunch the mildies wanting overcast nights so you can't see the stars, moon or anything.
  18. Well it looks like a HP dominated pattern we are now entering after a very brief atlantic spell, hardly any mild to talk of this winter apart from late last week which is a great achievement when winds are predominately from the SW in the UK. A return to zonality looks very unlikely indeed and a dry/cold winter almost assured.
  19. No it will be rather cold, frosty by night and even by days temps slightly below average are possible even lower where fog lingers.
  20. Love to see Trevor Harley so excited over December 2010, its great when he has such an extreme exciting month to to be passionate about, the same month i saw people using the word boring. :o
  21. Yes unbelievably the first mild week since early November. :o Cracks me up when i read people saying a colder pattern is always put back on the charts, mmmmmmm tell the winter CET that so far its taking quite a hammering, i only see 3 to 4 very mild days before cooling down, i think another cold spell will be on the horizon come end of the week.
  22. Anamoly is currently -0.5C in hadley. It's hilarious to think there are people who think its been mild the past 10 days
  23. Wasnt going to post for a week but after my morning walk i just had to come on to report it, its absolutelty gorgeous out there today, clear beautiful blue skies and pleasant sunshine, feels bitter in the wind though and still some frost in the shade, the countryside was very cold this morning before sunset with puddles frozen. Who in their right mind wants this replaced by dull dreary damp overcast weather is beyond me, i think they need to see a shrink personally, these are the supposed SAD sufferers also.
  24. I don't think so, after prolonged southwesterlies anticyclonic weather will be seen as godsend by most, worth saying antcyclonic conditions can still give frost and fog in february so not necessarily a mild month, i would favour cold if GP's thoughts come true, not sure where he gets mild from with HP to our northwest or over the UK as would it still be cold with potential for retrogression.
  25. Wow its only Jan 5th and a spring/summer thread has already been opened, i'll try opening an Autumn/Winter one in early July and see if if its closed or not. Its winter and its been great so far, really could do without such depressing threads, Springs are good with still the potential for clear arctic airstreams with lots of sunshine but by summer the cold airmasses go to be replaced by overcast atlantic ones, YUCK like the past 4 summers here.
