  1. GFS 12Z ensembles are showing quite alot of cold options for friday, some do agree with the OP but alot dont and some bring another snow risk for next sunday :o Massive differences for later in the week, i wouldnt like to call it but will go with the cold as that has mostly won this winter. Well i`ll make do with the coldest winter since 1979, to expect better is really expecting way too much, snow has fallen on on more than half of the total days so far this year somewhere to low ground in the UK.
  2. lol no i`m not here for every run and i haven't said that before, looking at the ensembles its one of the driest runs for tomorrow anyway, still looks like some will receive snow whoever that may be. The snow was never going to last anyway, the sun is too strong now and out of the shade it goes quickly, we need more deep cold this time of year to keep snowcover in the sun, there is a possibility of snowfall all week though going by UKMO and GME.
  3. Yes UKMO and GME pretty good tonight, as usual GFS has the odd wonky run here and there and if we believed all the wonky GFS runs this winter this winter wouldnt of been anywhere as good as it has been
  4. GFS 12Z is not as good as we are used to but its just one single run and looks a mild outlier to me, GME 12Z is better. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rgme1081.gif
  5. Yes and instead has overcast muck for you on wednesday
  6. Better run for friday on 00Z temps were around 8C in the midlands at midday on 06Z now 1C at midday still would be cold rain though for the midlands as dewpoints arent cold enough BUT the risk is there for snow, just need slightly colder air and dewpoints, the models for tomorrow were leaning towards rain 5 days ago so it could easily be upgraded like tomorrow was
  7. Yes a better 06Z, GFS 00Z was out on it's own in regards the northern extent of mild air so this is nearer to the rest, could be an ice day somewhere under all that heavy snow http://www.wetterzen...s/Rtavn3617.png Worth pointing out GFS 00Z for friday was the warmest model run, most other runs bring another risk of snowfall for the midlands northwards on friday, i wonder if GFS 06Z will bring this risk too, lets wait and see.
  8. lol it won't rain as far north as nottingham tomorrow, people further south than warwickshire have to worry not you in the north midlands.
  9. Yes looking very good for the midlands and north especially for the coming week, i see nothing mild for the midlands until maybe friday and then only transient, looks like Feb will end on a cold note, what a great winter this has been, lovely wintry scene outside right now, whoever said the snow potential was poor obviously is a poor forecaster BBC latest forecasts headline is staying cold for the week ahead with more bouts of rain and snow The models arent showing it milder for the midlands on wednesday GFS 00Z shows 2C/3C for the midlands and this is the ensemble mean for midnight thursday looks cold to me midlands northwards. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rt850m4.gif The OP is one of the mildest runs for later in the week too.
  10. I am gobsmacked by this post for two reasons one you are happy with the weather for once and two mainly that you are expecting a foot of snow, WOW!, i hope i get anywhere near to that much,i think i`ll stay awake this morning and wait for it to come in
  11. As was always the case damian though now with a risk the front will shunt too far south for the midlands keeping us in cold air Very interesting week coming up and all these spring posts ive seen on weather forums are nonsense, at worst it looks wet and windy with temps slightly above average by day, hardly what i would call ideal spring weather, the razors would be out if we got this kind of setup mid April onwards as it would be so unseasonal.
  12. Big outlier though, ages away and with no support, looking through meteociel for around the same timeframe there are some TEITS specials I will say this again some people including the pro's are underestimating the potential for heavy snowfall for next week big time
  13. Excellent T+84 hrs fax and i am very confident that would deliver snowfall for the midlands, looks very similar indeed to GFS 00Z T+84 hrs which has temps near 0C monday daytime, all indicates snow to me, you need some moisture air moving in to get heavy snowfall anyway so the 528 dam line is in the perfect place to me running through northern england http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack2a.gif
  14. Yes good post paul t but you don't need the 528 dam line kissing the south coast for heavy snowfall in the midlands like yesterdays snowfall showed, just to the north of the midlands or through the midlands is fine and can deliver snowfall for the midlands. I think monday is less marginal than yesterday and that really did deliver to quite alot of places in england and wales
  15. Unfortunately with such extensive Baltic sea ice currently that is forecasted to increase in the next few weeks, when this all melts it will slow down our already slow warm up process in the spring, not looking good at all for warmth this spring or the summer to be honest  On the flip coin though at least we will get a head start for next winter
  16. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Recm1681.gif  I think some have underestimated our snow chances for next week totally doesn't look like widespread rain to me well not for long anyway
  17. Very exciting output lots of rain to snow events in the next week for the midlands  Looks like rain on sunday afternoon turning to heavy snow overnight into monday
  18. I didn't see GFS 18Z but GFS 00Z is wow wow wow too esp for you up in leeds/bradford area right into the early stages of FI with lots of snow potential for midlands northwards . UKMO 00Z looks great also, what a winter this has been Not much hope for mild weather fans on the ensembles, the only hope is towards the end of GFS 00Z OP and its a big warm outlier then i`m afraid.
  19. How is 2C with precipitation around on monday terrible please if you want terrible go and look at winter 1988/89 charts, GFS 12Z is a stunning run for next week and not terrible at all. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1681.png
  20. lol today was going to be cack according to some posters on monday and outside the story is a winter wonderland. Still plenty of snow potential in the charts for next week, people getting too hung up on specifics as usual and not looking at the overall potential. http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn1321.png
  21. Winter wonderland here ........ and it's still coming down, should see it snow until around midnight Really in this day and age no excuse not to drive to nearby counties to enjoy the snow if you've missed out
  22. Coventry weather station hasn't been taking readings since Dec 9th, its 1C in church lawford and 2C in coleshill and birmingham Wed 09 Dec 11:209°C / 48°F - Wed 09 Dec 10:509°C / 48°F - Wed 09 Dec 10:208°C / 46°F - Wed 09 Dec 09:508°C / 46°F
  23. Maybe you are too far northwest nick, nevermind just come to warwickshire especially south of the region and enjoy some sledging on some hills like burton dassert for example they are getting pasted i've heard
  24. Wow thats great news as i already have a very decent covering here, a nice wintry scene here, one of the best days in weeks, who wouldnt want snow, children are out enjoying it already and everyone is happy apart from the usual mild loving whingers
  25. LOL..... it's a good job we don't get proper continental winters then isnt it, always amuses me north americans and europeans cope with snow much better than us but here all we have is a bunch of softies who can't cope with a bit of sleet or snow Hasn't affected me this week at all had some nice sunny days with hail showers and its been very pleasant out walking, lots of sunshine from tomorrow afternoon onwards once this heavy snow leaves a nice covering tonight, cant wait to go out and take photos of the lovely countryside this weekend.
