    Today has brought our 4th thunderstorm of the year so far. Not bad for only the first week of May. So yes, it may turn cool again next weekend but with a meridional jet, should it continue like this, then it will not be long till the next southerly. Thankfully this region almost always does very well when winds come from the S/SE.

    Forgot to note today makes thunderstorm number 4 of 2016 so far. Not bad considering it is just the first week of May! So yes it may get cooler again next weekend but if the jet stays in such a meridional state, it probably wont be long till the next southerly feed of warmth again.

    Sferics over Telford! Hopefully Conor is getting something. A little disappointed things got very interesting just north of here however a nice little storm nonetheless with some lightning flashes and good rumbles of thunder. Those storms to the north gave at least 20 minutes of non stop thunder. Very impressive!

    nice one! All thanks to that cell which clinged onto the edge of the old Stratford cell. Nice little storm here but sounds like it was quite something north of here.

    Little annoyed things kicked off big time just to our north but impressive constant rumbles. Still, glad we got something.

    Probably does not help this storm is probably the central one of them all so probably lots of cloud and competition from other cells killing it off im afraid. Not over yet but not looking very promising now imo for here. Some excellent storms nearby though i.e Worcester/Malvern.

    Stratford cell has now died it seems. Nothing to our SE of note now. Shame but some good cells to the NE and SW of here so it may pass pretty tamely here with just some rain.

    Cloud bases ever darkening to my south and south east now. Some very active storms on the detectors now, especially around Cheltenham!

    You have a decent shout of a storm today though! A fair bit of sunshine here earlier. May be a different story up in Telford again though. Tomorrow looks much sunnier. Does not look like showers will form now imo tomorrow.

    You think those storms to our south could make it here then? Could new cells keep fighting it out, especially now potential energy available is now coming towards a maximum?

    Really kicking off m4 corridor way now south of here. My only concern is longevity and whether cells will make it here. Not a massive distance but is shear enough to avoid these being just pulse like storms?

    Yes by the time they reach here, they could be tapping in to the maximum energy available of the day.

    Hazy sun breaking through again now. Some potent slowish moving cells around the M4 corridor/just north so far. Happy with my prediction from last night so far. Very warm and humid and should hopefully be in a good spot for later.

    The Euro4 model by the way really goes for some good showers/storms over us this evening.

    This is not really a Spanish plume tbh. Don't think it has the traditional characteristics of one. Just our air is coming from the south and it's warm. Some good sunshine here so far though cloudy currently but should improve either side of any showers/storms this afternoon.
