There was some snow around here yesterday on the very top of the hills which seems to be mostly gone today. The weather today has been cloudy with some rain about but it's not windy for the first time in a few days. The temperature has been mostly just under 5c all day.

Cloudy here with the heavy showers from yesterday evening still continuing this morning. The temperature for most of last night was just under 5c and this morning it got a bit colder down to 2.6c.

I remember over 10 years ago the warning system on the Met Office was much better at least from what I remember it had none of that messy drawing on a map and warnings overlapping each other instead you had a region that would just be highlighted in yellow, orange and red it was straight to the point with no storm names and it just gave a warning of severe weather and I also found the warnings to be better and more consistent back then too. I lived in the Western Isles for 15 years and a while ago moved back to the mainland when I lived in the Western Isles they used to give warnings out all the time years ago mostly yellow warnings but each winter we would get at least 2 or 3 red warnings recently in the past few years we didn't get any red warnings for where I lived not even an amber warning. But it got worse the Met Office don't seem to have a clue about the weather out there yes 70 to 80mph gusts are probably nothing to the islanders their used to it they think but it all depends on the wind direction a few years ago in October high winds came from the South East (it usually comes off the Atlantic from the West) and flooded many places and caused some damage yet no warning no storm name. Last December this happened again as well from the same direction we got a gust just under 90mph that night thankfully no flooding due to a very low tide at the time but we did get some minor damage and again we didn't even get a yellow warning or a storm name.

A look at the SEPA rainfall data today most places reported at least over 20mm of rain, A closer look at the Highlands many places got over 30mm some up to 40mm the highest two being Rhiconich (far North West) with 52.6mm and 79.4mm reported at Allt Dearg House on the Isle of Skye, Central Scotland saw most places between 25 to 35mm with the Loch Lomond area reporting 66.6mm at Inveruglas and Upper Monachlye 86.8mm, Map and data can be viewed at https://apps.sepa.org.uk/rainfall

Passed over me a short while ago wind picked up with a gust of 48mph and the rain very heavy and since it passed the temperature has gone from 10.5c to 8.6c in the space of 25 minutes.

It's from the Met Office station in Drumalbin which appears to be a bit away from Motherwell. A cloudy wet and windy morning here so far our top gust was 50mph at 7.44am although so far the wind doesn't appear to be as bad as Sunday's storm. The temperature has been steadily rising since midnight which was 5.6c then and now just hit 10c after 11.30am.

Yesterdays storm here brought a gust of 55mph in the morning but as the day went on the winds dropped and the showers eased off leaving a cloudy day that actually wasn't too bad. During the evening when the wind changed to the North West the temperature climbed down to 3.9c. Through the night a few heavy showers passed by as the wind increased again although not by much. This morning has been sunny and dry and a bit on the cold side the current temp just after 12pm was 4.7c.

Today's mulimodel outlook up until the 17th of December. There's better agreement with the models today on temperatures compared to the last 3 days. The week ahead will be around 8c to 7c midday tempetatures and most places at night are looking cold. In a weeks time the models are showing a slight drop in temperatures something indicated yesterday and again this morning. As for the air pressure things are still staying on the unsettled side this week with an area of low pressure over the UK on Thursday and Friday the models still seem unsure on how deep it will get and where it's exact position will be. The trend for pressure increasing into next weekend is still there and into the start of next week.

Buoy 62023 reported 92mph at 7pm. Roches Point 79mph and Sherkin Island 78mph. All from South coast of Ireland. The South West of England are starting to see winds increase now gusts over 50mph and some up to 64mph.

Buoy 62023 off the South coast of Ireland reported a gust of 85mph at 5pm.

Most places still experiencing 30 to 40mph gusts and some of the Western coasts around 50mph. Some parts of Ireland reporting over 60mph. Fastnest Lighthouse reported a 96mph gust just after 3.30pm this afternoon. The next few hours we will see the winds increase further. Today's multimodel graphs. Midday temperature trend staying closely the same for most of next week between 7c and 9c. The air pressure dropping on Wednesday as the models today grow more confident of a deep area of low pressure on Friday. The trend is still there from yesterday for pressure to rise into next weekend.

Heavy showers here last night and that's when the wind picked up the highest gust so far today is 55mph reported at 9am. Today so far isn't as dull compared to yesterday with better visibility that being said its still cloudy with heavy showers about and a lot more windy.

Widespread gusts this morning of 30 to 40mph across most of the country with a few places reporting over 50mph. Some parts of Western Ireland have reported 60mph gusts. Some strong winds around this evening as Storm Atiyah starts makes it's way over to the UK. Widespread gusts between 35 and 45mph being reported some exposed parts just under 60mph. These types of gusts are expected to continue through the night as we take a look at the ECM gust charts, Sunday morning see's 35 to 45mph gusts along the West and Ireland has gusts mainly around 50mph with the West coast seeing over 60mph, Sunday afternoon the South West of Scotland could see gusts of 60mph. Across Western parts of England and Wales see gusts between 45 and 55mph with exposed locations up to 60mph. Ireland is still the windiest place at the moment 50 to 60mph being widespread with the South West coast of Ireland taking on the full brunt where over 70mph is likely, The evening see's the strong gusts move inland now Scotland at this point misses out on the high winds. Wales seeing 45 to 55mph exposed locations over 60mph. The South West of England gusts over 65mph and the exposed coasts over 70mph. Ireland continues to see high gusts move across inland between 50 and 60mph exposed locations over 70mph, During Sunday night to the early hours of Monday morning is when the high gusts will move across the entire country and reach more inland. Gusts ranging from 35 to 45mph for most places those in exposed locations will see as much as 55 to 65mph,
