  1. I've just looked in the Greenland Ice thread and for the first time ever, at least from what I've seen, virtually the whole Northern Hemisphere is forcasted to have warmer than average 500HPA Heights.

  2. I was greeted with a veritable smorgasbord of 'error' messages, when I first logged-on. I even got a brand new format, for a few seconds; I can't tell you how worried I was...

I mean, being cut-off from the rest of humanity is one thing (autism can do that) but from the weather? That's inconceivable!😱

I can't access my profile.  I still get error messages doing that.

  3. Vile day 2 years ago today, storm Doris, the worst weather type, wet and windy, this time last year was the best, getting ready for the beast, this year cool too, as Spring has sprung

Yeah I hate Atlantic storms too!

  4. Snow, yay! This has now officially beaten 13/14!

      1. That didn't take a lot to beat!
  5. All this talk about global warming, CO2 etc and what did the world do at midnight? Pumped a load of more air pollution into the atmosphere by letting a load of fireworks off....Boy I'm a cynic...😁

You're at least more of an optimist than I am.

  6. Wow! according to Beeb weather presenters we're experiencing a 'bitter' south easterly wind with temps at 6c currently!...hahahahaha!!

I miss Rob McElwee.  He was the best and he never exaggerated.

That would be the infamous "winter" 2015/2016.  After that awful recordbreakingly mild, wet, windy and stormy monsoonal December, I remember the papers in early January 2016 were hyping up a so-called frigid Polar Vortex to hit the UK after the Arctic Stratosphere was "torpedoed" by an exceptionable Sudden Stratospheric Warming event.  Needless to say it was a non event for the UK.

  8. A mild December is as depressing as asking for a coat and getting a sink drainer.

We have had our longest run of mild/very mild Decembers now since the 80s!  I'm sick of them.:oldsad:

  9. Why do TV forecasters call a small bump in the isobars in a low pressure system a "ridge of high pressure"? Such a bug bear as its not true at all(pressure does not significantly rise for one), a true ridge of high pressure is one that may topple after a Northerly and then the high topples quickly and replaced by low pressure.

I think TV forecasts are getting way more shoddy than they used to be.

  10. This recent weather proves why I detest this month ever dwindling daylight and mild. Wake me up when it’s over!

My fave Novs are when they crisp and dry like 1993 and 2016 and my worst Novs are mild and Atlantic driven like 2009 and 2015.  Nov 2018 so far is in the middle ground but I've got a bad feeling the Atlantic mush is going to win out. The thing that I really like about Nov is getting ready for Christmas.

  13. Anyone calling for a ssw or a CW late Nov/early Dec?

  14. That was a lovely cold night and tonight should be better still 🙂

  15. It looks like this September will comfortably get an above average CET. Warm Septembers don't bode well for cold winters.

    1. Lettucing Gutted

      Lettucing Gutted

I think the best Septembers for cold winters are cold and settled ones like 1986 whilst the worst Septembers for winters are warm and unsettled ones like 2011.

  16. A nice helping of snow for the Alps today!

  17. Heating?! Still 25c in my gaff yesterday evening, too warm!

I agree, its ridiculous isn't it?  I think people are forgetting what heat and cold are.

Thanks to the heat and personal disasters I've hated every second of this so-called "British Summer".  Its worse than a Med Summer, its the Summer Of Hell!  There's still August to get though yet as well.
