  1. Interesting that the BBC Look East weather just showed sleet on Saturday night......
  2. Thanks Paul, computer re-start has sorted it.
  3. Hi Paul, thanks for the reply. I've cleared the cache and still no luck. I also disabled all anti-virus just in case but still no luck. Any other ideas?
  4. Any idea why I can't access the forum using google chrome? When I tried to access this morning it told me the site was unsafe, when I clicked to proceed anyway I'm getting an error message saying "SSL Connection failed". The strange thing is I can access everything fine through internet explorer.
  5. So just to reiterate - everyone is warned to watch out for Severe Gales tonight........ .......or alternatively we may just end up with a weak gale.
  6. Good spot Steve, interesting that a few areas have been upgraded compared to forecasts made earlier this afternoon. Storm force 11 is sustained winds of 64-73mph!
  7. The St Judes storm certainly wasn't overhyped here. We had 9 trees down, the local golf club had over 50 trees down and my village was cut off for 3 days.
  8. I also went to Reading and thoroughly enjoyed it; it's a great uni. I must say though I didn't do the Meteorology course in the end as I didn't think my career prospects would be all that good at the end of it. Instead I trained as a Quantity Surveyor and that's what I do now. I still keep Meteorology as a hobby though and I'm always trying to further my knowledge of it
  9. Look East forecast this evening made quite a big point of fog forming through the day tomorrow and into the evening, becoming a problem. Strange that the MetOffice forecast makes no mention of it, and neither does any other forecast that I have seen. Strange as she made such a point of it, yet the BBC get their forecasts from the Met.
  10. I'm only 5 miles from the source - peak tends to be around 6 hours after rainfall here, slowly falling over the following 12-24 hours.
  11. Still raining here although not for much longer by the looks of the radar. Good job I got home when I did. River has now burst its banks and i'm stuck in the village. Wonder if it will have gone down in time for the drive to work!?........
  12. Showers been pushing in all day here, heavy bouts of rain on and off. 10mm so far today, plenty more showers to come tonight, tomorrow and perhaps Wednesday and Thursday too. All in all......wet.
  13. Heavy rain on and off all morning here in Gorleston (work). Looks like heavy showers pushing into Suffolk at the moment too. The river in the village was only a foot or so from flooding this morning - currently got a flood alert out from the EA. The ground is saturated now - standing water everywhere.
  14. Rain is pretty heavy here now. 4mm/hr. Looks to be here the rest of the day now. On the plus side it's filling my pond up. On the down side it will probably be the first time this year that the river is over and the village is cut off (happens three or four times most years)
  15. Steady rain here now for the past hour. If my memory serves me correctly this is the third Sunday on the trot now that has been wet......no chance of giving the lawn its final cut for the year. More than happy to relax infront of the fire though
  16. A few showers coming in off the coast already this morning. From previous experience, these sorts of setups can bring a lot of rain to these parts. Had a few flooding events here in the past few years where showers/rainfall has come off the north sea. Those showers coming in at the moment are pretty heavy and slow moving.
  17. Visibility already down to 100m in Norwich, not quite so thick here but certainly a nice cool foggy evening. This is what I like to see in November....not front after front bringing bouts of rain.
  18. Wetter than an otter's pocket out there. 12mm since midnight and no sign of the rain stopping in the next few hours.
  19. Had a total of 35mm in all. 26.0mm today and 9.0mm before midnight last night. Standing water on fields and the roads beginning to get muddy again. Still, it's put the forst few inches into my old pond that was clay lined last week.
  20. Lots of heavy bursts within this rainband, more so than the radar shows. 3mm/hr one minute, 30mm/hr the next!
  21. Weather warning out now for our part of the world:- Yellow Warning: Bands of rain, often heavy, and accompanied by strong northeasterly winds for a time, will affect southern and eastern parts of England through Sunday night and at times during Monday. The rain will clear from the southeast by the morning, but further heavy, slow moving and potentially thundery showers are likely to occur. The public should be aware of the risk of localised surface water flooding. Chief Forecaster's Assessment: An area of low pressure moving north from France will bring a combination of rather persistent and sometimes heavy rainfall, as well as strong winds blowing from the northeast (gusting to 50 mph in places for a time). This combination is likely to lead to unpleasant conditions on the roads with surface water perhaps exacerbated by leaves blocking drains for example. The rain will clear from southeast England early on Monday morning, to be replaced by some sunshine, but also a risk of slow moving heavy, thundery showers. 10-25 mm of rain (starting early Sunday evening in the far south) is expected to fall widely in the warning area, with 30-50 mm possible over parts of southwest England and the West Country and also where showers line up into bands across east and southeast England." I love the sound of rain driving against the window as I'm laid in my nice warm bed My pond also needs filling so hopefully a puddle may appear in the bottom of it by this time tomorrow.
  22. Cornish beaches are fantastic (only a month until I take my anual trip to Perranporth - love 'The Watering Hole'). Gwithian in Cornwall is also fantastic, better than anything abroad. But being Suffolk born and bred I have to love Suffolk beaches. If you want the old fashioned seaside feel, Southwold is fantastic; feels very victorian. Also a good drop of local brew from Adnams! Walberswick is also another charming Suffolk seaside village.
  23. Crazy rain here for the past 20 minutes! 15mm so far since it started, and peak rainfall rate of 170mm/hr (heavier than the radar shows). Just has two flashes of lightning too! And I was supposed to be having an early night ..........
  24. New cell just fired up out of nowhere just north of Colchester. No sun here at the moment after the earlier storm. Still 21.7C and feeling very close though.
