  1. damianslaw it’s funny on the bbc pressure chart yesterday I noticed some snow on the graphics, but thought it was odd as the uppers weren’t that great, but there was no sight of it on the zoomed in forecast graphics.
  2. Looking at the southwest and central thread, there’s some surprise snowfalls this morning.
  3. Snow line seems to be about 350m here today. Looks like a decent amount on Marsden Moor, very white.
  4. Another marginal event coming up, slightly better uppers than last time but I’ll expect it to be snow 300m+ again that way I won’t be disappointed haha.
  5. It would be typical if we finally got some good blocking in March only for it to be like the 06z, with the colder air far to the north east. We would have to hope for it to be persistent enough that the frigid 850s have enough time to filter back down from Siberia.
  6. Rain Lady It’s quite a common saying, I’ve heard for many years. However the opposite is often true, particularly if there’s a cold spell in the eastern half of the US as this means the thermal gradient powers up the jet stream and we get mild and wet.
  7. Some proper torrential sleet on my way home earlier, it was literally like slop falling from the sky lol. Ah well reset and hope something pops up soon!
  8. They will often cancel if it’s not need after a certain time. They had it til 6am tomorrow so that’s been cut short.
  9. Well we’ve done better than I thought as I kept my hopes down! I’m so jealous of Buxton height lol. IMG_0610.mov
  10. Grass and rooves trying to turn white. If it was a little bit heavier with a bit more evap cooling we would be in business! IMG_0604.mov
  11. frosty ground Aye South easterlies! it’s more of an issue with organised fronts, showers seems to make it ok. Luckily Saddleworth tends to be right on the edge so we do ok from either setup. Going to my partners in Manchester though and it’s a different world. I remember several times we got a foot and while Manchester got a tiny dusting.
  12. Winter Hill Classic rain shadow for the area. It happens quite often with south westerlies due to the welsh mountains and easterlies because of the Pennines. Unfortunate quirk of topography.
  13. cheshire snow oh I’m not basing that on any knowledge, just being pessimistic to keep my hopes down
  14. WillinGlossop I know the breadth of the warning is due to the uncertainty but I’m fully expecting a lot of people to complain about not getting any snow on Thursday. Already on local Facebook pages people are expecting a guarantee of snow . Im not expecting much, my gut feeling is the GFS will be closer to what will happen.
  15. Just managed to scrape another ice day today, -0.2°C. Not expecting to get anything from the showers this evening.
  16. Well I think we’ve bottomed out at -10.4°C. Again we had that last minute drop just before sunrise, does anyone know why that happens?
  17. -9.4°C currently, we haven’t beaten Dec 22, though there is a little time for it to drop further as it sometimes does in the hour before sunrise
