  1. According to the Met Office website, the ash plume reached 32,000 feet last night which must be as high as at the beginning of the eruption! It's a good job the winds have turned northeasterly and blow the ash away from the UK! Karyo
  2. I know, it's so frustrating! The high and mid level cloud has moved away but the low cloud is just so stubborn! Karyo
  3. Yes, it looked impressive for a time! Much better/higher than yesterday! Karyo
  4. It is starting to brighten up now! Hopefully, it won't be long till we have a view of the plume! http://eldgos.mila.is/eyjafjallajokull-fra-thorolfsfelli/ Karyo Edit: Oh no! The camera is now not working! :-(
  5. The satellite images http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/satpics/latest_IR.html show the cloud associated with a weather system moving out of Iceland and towards the UK. It should become clearer ther this afternoon as pressure rises. We just need to get rid all that low cloud and hopefully we'll have a nice view of the volcano soon! Karyo
  6. I just wish the cloud base was a little bit higher!
  7. Gaps in the clouds occassionally reveal some nice explosions in this camera: http://eldgos.mila.is/eyjafjallajokull-fra-thorolfsfelli/ While this one http://eldgos.mila.is/eyjafjallajokull-fra-fimmvorduhalsi/ shows where the lava flow is Karyo
  8. Yes, stunning aren't they? They look static in contrast to the constantly rising plume! Karyo
  9. This Eyjafjallojokull eruption does not compare to the Laki eruption! Karyo
  10. Low cloud is coming and going but the sky above is clear which bodes well for later. The ash plume rises nicely aided by light winds! http://eldgos.mila.is/eyjafjallajokull-fra-fimmvorduhalsi/ Karyo
  11. It looks more like low cloud to me but yeah we have been unlucky today! However, we still have several hours of brightenss and I am still hopefull for a clearance! Karyo
  12. Interesting update from the met office, highlighting increased activity: Latest reports from the Icelandic Met Office show the activity of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano to have increased with ash becoming slightly more concentrated. The plume is currently reaching heights of 17,000 to 18,000 feet and is spreading away from Iceland in a southeastward direction. Cloud cover around the volcano has broken recently, enabling the plume to be seen on webcam imagery. Issued at 1717 on Mon 03 May 2010 Karyo
  13. Yes, the plume is impressive today, even better than yesterday, from the little I can see. We should have more clear spells (according to the satellite) as the afternoon progresses so hopefully much more to see! Karyo
  14. Yes, a very interesting day so far as the winds are now coming from Iceland! The met office website mentions that the plume reaches 5km and moves southeast. Previous updates were saying that the ash was staying in the vicinity of Iceland. Karyo
  15. Quite an impressive picture at the moment! I wonder if we see some lightning! Karyo
  16. hi everybody, the weather seems to be clearing, revealing a nice view of the plume! Karyo
  17. There's something addictive about watching those bombs during the night! :-) Here's hoping to an active summer!
  18. It looks stunning at the moment! Lovely view of the eruption. Interestingly, by the end of the week, the winds will be coming from the north again so if this coincides with a bigger eruption, we may be affected by ash again! Karyo
  19. Yes, I don't normally have high expectations for thunder before May but convective weather is also fun! I am keeping a look on developments over northeast Wales as the flow brings the showers here! Karyo
  20. I think they will! I can see a lot of back building taking place! Starting to rain again here now. Karyo
  21. Just had a really nice downpour here! No thunder so far! I hope on more convective weather from now on as spring so far has been boring! Karyo
  22. Beautiful image now with the clear weather. Definately some ash there too! http://www.simnet.is/jonfr500/earthquake/vefmyndeyjafjalmulaen.html Karyo
  23. Thank you Karensa and The Pit :-) Yes, the plume is much higher than in the last 24 hours or so! Karyo
  24. Any web cam links? I am looking and can't find any! Karyo
  25. Yes, a friend of mine said the sunrise was also interesting!
