  1. This seems like a decent radar too: https://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/radar?LANG=en&STRUCTUR=_&CREG=frfr&CONT=frfr&BIG=0&LOOP=1&LTYP=std&ROAD=0&CITY=&L=0&SLP=0&W=0&LF=0&SUM=0
  2. My understanding is that a wave front is going to move up/across the south this evening and tonight and showers to the north of that. Had around 5 hours of persistent light snow so far, laid on everything but concrete so far and still going. Hoping for more later. Currently light snow, very blowy and -1c with a -3c dew point. About 2cm though hard to tell due to the wind.
  3. Is it the long wiggly line of fronts extending east that is expected to bring this afternoon and evening's snow over the south?
  4. Which direction are we looking to for this afternoon and evenings snow? Will it be a Euro radar watch?
  5. Snow currently 1.5/10 on Murr scale. A few flakes on the shed roof and on the car. The band seems to stop just as it gets to us here
  6. Met Office updated forecast for the nearly same ASL location as me just three miles away, shows continuous heavy snow from 10am until midnight. I’ll believe it when I see it
  7. Morning from Hawkinge! A look out the window shows overcast skies. Currently 1.4c with a DP of -1c. Very windy now too. Looking on net weather radar, looking like snow here and there across the region with some heavier blobs over Suffolk and heading towards north Kent coast. Have fun everyone and stay safe.
  8. G&T is my favourite but my gin is gone so it’ll be amaretto and coke instead this time. Reminds me of Christmas, which might be appropriate if it’s snowing...
  9. We went to look there as my daughter was interested. It was lovely and really hoped she’d choose it as it’s only a 3 hour drive from here opposed to Bangor which is closer to 6 where she eventually chose! She’s back next Friday and can’t wait for her train to get in!
  10. Looking like the same areas as last time will do best, north and west Kent and down into Sussex? Still, whoever gets snow this weekend, certainly a memorable month!
  11. Hi, I find if I edit each one I want to post by just taking a teeny bit off them and then post that version it works ok. Weird but seems to work!
  12. Morning - temp currently 0.6c, DP 0c and misty. Well yesterday was certainly one to remember! Woke to light freezing rain which coated our bit of snow in ice. Defrosted the car before work/school run and set off but had to pull over 2 minutes into the journey to de-ice again as what was falling was coating the windscreen again. The drive down was a bit slippery but everyone was being sensible and so no issues really. Dropped my son off and got to work safely! About lunchtime it started snowing lightly and quickly ramped up to give a light covering. Because Folkestone is a town you can’t leave without getting up a hill we always have to consider if those living outside town need to go when snow sets in (one year the company refused to let people leave and they had 6–8 hour journeys!). So gradually lost people as it got thicker and by 2:30 felt I needed to get my son and go too as my journey, albeit only 3 miles, is all uphill. Roads were snow covered but not terrible, and although there were a few wheel spin moments and then someone lost their nerve on one of the steeper hills it was ok. That part of the journey then involved going up the steepest hill in first gear! Once home we had a lovely walk (pics to follow). So although we missed out on the best of the snow earlier in the week, had snow falling every day from Monday and an ice day Monday to Friday! With a real “ice day” thanks to the freezing rain yesterday.
  13. Lethal outside. Pavements slippery, roads slippery! Had to pull over and defrost again 2 minutes into journey as car wasn’t warm enough to stop what was hitting car from freezing again!
  14. Morning Wind very noisy around the house all night, nothing accumulated overnight with the flurries I saw falling just after midnight but not surprised given the wind..Maidstone probably have them! Currently -2.3c (after a high of -0.2c at midnight) and DP -6c.
  15. Not far from you in Hawkinge! Full on gale force gusts at times round the house now and horizontal snow flurries. Currently -0.2c, DP -6c (high was 0.0c in the end)
  16. Same, as under the light snow according to the radar but an intense stare at the lamppost saw one whole flake
  17. Thank you for cheering me up after a rubbish day at work! I have kept half an eye on the radar when I could at work and wasn’t fancying our chances. And after watching the snow to the north and west of us all week here in se Kent, I would love to end the week with some decent snowfall!
  18. Hi Jay! Fingers crossed for some snow for us both! Was just coming back to report I can see a few small flakes blowing about up here. Please advise if it’s suddenly three feet deep down there so I can have a day off
  19. Morning -5.4c, DP -8c here and very windy from the NE all night. Looking at the band, it’s just not making inroads across the Channel here unfortately. I see the MO have updated my forecast for today to heavy snow for a few hours but just don’t see it happening as there’s nothing to indicate that on the radar..in fact, all the stuff out in the sea seems to doing here is becoming lighter and lighter. Hopefully tomorrow will be better here!
  20. Wind howling round the house! Temp -5c, dew point -9c Used to tracking French blobs on the radar but it’s usually summer and in the 20’s, not sub-zero and winter!
