  1. Nice to see a few flakes this morning. Might be the last for a while.
  2. It bad. Hoping for some more. Still waiting for Backtrack's warm air he told me was coming my way.
  3. Looks like plenty of snow outside. Shows a little height and to the east puts me in the sweet spot most years. Sadly I am moving to Somerset before next year so I need to make the most of this and living here.
  4. Snow all the way! How long is this going to last?
  5. It is not marginal where I am right now but the temperatures forecast for tomorrow will be high enough to melt it all soon enough which is a shame. Not really a cold spell when it is only one night!
  6. Maybe for you but we aren't all in the milder west of the region. Lots of snow falling over this side still and more on its way.
  7. This one maybe .... "possibly a spell of more widespread rain, sleet and snow moving southwards after midnight, with gales in places" People seem a bit touchy shouting rubbish etc.
  8. I think a few people could do with reading John Holmes' posts. His use of the anomoly charts is generally very accurate and although it doesn't give an exact view of what is going to happen at the surface it gives an idea of the upper air and stops is getting so uptight about every operational run
  9. Probably quite a few people on a weather forum even it is perhaps in the wrong section.
  10. Finally got some proper snow after waiting all winter.
  11. Radio 4 weather forecast just said Buxton is the hot spot for the most snow tonight and tomorrow. No surprise there!
  12. I have no faith in GFS snow charts but there is often a snow difference between Altrincham and The Airport. Historically one side of the runway tunnel will have snow and you will come through the other side and there will be none
  13. Nice to wake up to a covering this morning, even if it did create chaos and make me late for work.
  14. There was a discussion on radio four earlier about the floods and the cause. The programme ended with a talk with one of the bbc forecasters discussing the weather coming up. He said a change to much colder weather with snow, he said at the moment there was uncertainty how long it would last but that the met office have been predicting a much colder second half to winter consistently since November!
  15. Well, looking out at my still substantial covering of snow I am enjoying my snowless winter if this is what it entails, and yes it is cold! 5th. Consecutive day with snow cover. You haven't stopped moaning since you arrived in the Northwest Forum! This is always a strange region for snow as some of us always get it and a lot never do!
  16. January 1963 saw totals close to three foot in lowland Cheshire. around Alderley Edge and Wilmslow. 1979 saw 14 inches in Alderley Edge. I would not he surprised if totals were similar in 1947 but I don't remember that although my father does as he was a market gardener trying to dig crops!
  17. Lovely covering in Macclesfield this morning. Ha to those that said a mainly rain and sleet event!
