    Sky filling up with lots of AcCas towers in MK now & looking very dark towards the south & south west of here. Appears from latest radar grab to be new cells popping up ahead of those that have already formed. Got this feeling everything is going to merge into our very own home grown MCS. Make my day a give a very British middle finger to the storm stealing Frenchies

    offtopic but: Well what a surprise, no storms so far, but just went in the freezer to grab a ping dinner as it's to hot to cook & found a whole box of Mint choc chip Cornettos.. Yummie.

    Quite rapid development around MK at present, were areas of AcCas floating bye, now however thay are beginning to tower rapidly all over the place, thin fast columns that almost look like turrets of candy floss climbing upwards.

    Sky is rapidly filling with bubbling AcCas now some of which appear to be towering to the south of MK over towards the Chilterns.

    Small line of showers rapidly developing along the Dorset coast SSW of Weymouth, possible indication that it's about to start kicking off.

    Great idea, sit and watch safely indoors if your able to, and when you feel more confident stand in the doorway and watch the sky & lightning. It's what I did as a child to overcome my fear of storms at an early age. You'll come to appreciate the beauty and raw power of nature. Also learning the technicalities of storms and how they develop and function will give you a better understanding and reduce any fear levels.

    You probably suffer from Brontophobia, you just have to remember thunder can't hurt you, and it's pretty rare to be hit by lightning inside the house, just stay off the phone & unplug any valuable electrical equipment from the mains if the storms close or overhead. I've come close to being struck by lightning twice in my life now, but oddly it doesn't scare me. I just go with the motto sh*t happens.

    30.6'c, Dp is 19'c & 53% rising humidity in the centre of MK 200 yrds from the Library in the shade. Sky was covered in CirroStratus first thing this morning, now burnt off completely bar an odd small patch & the odd small AcCas cloud popping up here and there,

    Storms over on the french coast seem to be producing a lot of +cg lightning, almost three times the ammount of the -cg's. Is it because they are high based storms?

    Small convetive clouds have been building in the area since lunchtime 1pm onwards. Some larger cumulus starting too develop now though and beginning to tower upwards, classic cauliflower clouds. Need a storm desperately, this heat & humidity, plus being diabetic is making me feel utterly exhausted, I think I have consumed 3 litres of iced water but managed to sweat twice that amount today.     Got my fingers crossed here in MK, at 12pm the temp is 27.4'c with a Dp of 18'c, seems to be a slight wind convergence too only light but swinging from a NE back to W and so forth.

    Had some huge dark menacing clouds to the south of MK around 4:30 pm, a little light rain for 10 mins and they cleared off to the east, one the way home a while ago I could still see large towering cumulus to the east. Very suprised it came to nothing, look like a classic summer thunder sky earlier.

    Perhaps you need a shower? Just joking. I noticed the smell last night when it was raining, sort of musty scent you get during convective rainfall. Pretty sure it has something to do with the amount of humidity / water that's hanging about in the atmosphere.

    Torrential rain falling in MK from an elevated cloud layer, no lightning seen or thunder heard yet, but the rains getting heavier all the time, so it's a possibility it'll go boom soon i think, also gotten extremely muggy outside in the last hour, so im guessing the theta plumes made it this far north all ready.

    A brief shower 30 mins ago, no thunder heard, but the sky to the south of MK is turning blacker all the while, looks very stormy and oddly the clouds are pushing against a wind from the opposite direction. Possibly a convergence zone forming. Edit: very large sporadic drops of rain now falling in the center of MK, sky is very dark.

    Storm just skirted to south of MK in the last 20 mins, heard 15 or so deep rumbles and saw some distant lightning. Appears to be heading over Luton way.

    I usually love snow, but It's a wet slushy here, and the worst part it has clogged up my sky dish, got half way through topgear and lost all recption

    Heavy sleet in the center of MK as well, large soggy wet 50p sized flakes falling at times.

    Raining in the center of MK also, everything to the west seems to be rain as well. Unless you have height or evaperotive cooling takes place it appears it may be a bust for snow tonight. Temp here is 1'c and a dew point of 0.4'c appears to be rising too

    Snowing in the center of MK for 30mins now, only light but settling.

    12 hours of continuous light / moderate snow here now. Flakes are now coming down larger than they have done all day, not sure if it's a temperature thing or more energy building into the area. Looks surreal outside, the snows getting so deep there's weird undulations across the surface like the beach after the tides gone out.

    It had stopped snowing here for an hour, but after a brief gap more energy seems to be working in from the SE & it's snowing again.

    Aye its receding NE, but if you look at the radar theres been an odd sort of convergence line all afternoon since it began roughly running up through berkshire, luton. mk & northampton. has shown signs of weakening but keeps getting fed by heavier bursts running nw from the sussex coast. Three hours possible at a push before moving away i reckon.

    Still snowing in MK, light still but the odd few minute burst of heavier stuff then back to light small flakes again. Keeps getting deeper & deeper, up to 12cm again now on the grass behind my flat, so 6 or 7cm fallen since 9am. Feels colder too, turned the heating up and just got a huge helping of shepherds pie out of the freezer for dinner later, nom nom
