Patchy cloud here too. Feels ok when sun is out but a cool Northerly breeze in the shade. 11C but feels colder.

Cool here too after an overnight frost. Some sunny intervals but mostly cloudy. Saw this swan working on her nest this afternoon while the dad was keeping a wary eye on a nearby heron. He eventually charged towards it but in reality scared the geese more than it.

A cool breeze today despite the max getting up to >12C. A couple of hail/soft hail showers in late afternoon. Sky partly clear now at 5C.
Anyone seeing any aurora yet?

Bright spells earlier but cloudy now. 16.5C max which without checking may be my warmest of the year so far. Defo warmest in April.

Headed off for a couple of days break across in Inveraray. Roads remarkably quiet but did go through a couple of torrential hail storms near Dalmally. Settling in nicely here at the Inn after a few drinks including complimentary Prosecco and a nice bar meal.

Wet snow here too but not sticking except for a little slush on car roofs and screens. Further Inland with just a little altitude there is a layer of wet snow.

Yes, quite difficult to achieve but today has managed to be worse than anything in the last few days. Steady rain, a cold wind off the North Sea and the temp varying between 4.5 and 6C. Currently steady rain at 4.7C
At least by the weekend we will have lost the Easterly winds so perhaps warm rather than cold rain?

Lovely day here today ( before the easterly muck sets in) Around 11C but feeling warmer in the sun. Took a stroll in the woods just NW of the town and spotted two red squirrels. Always nice to see. Not sure at one point if they were playing or fighting when they eneded up on the same tree but they both settled down quickly.

Wind has got up a bit in last few minutes and rain has got heavier and sleety again. There was a bit wet snow around 8AM but it didn't stick. Currently sleety at 2.5C.

edinburgh_1992 Not heavy here either but has been sleeting here at low levels for the last couple of hours despite the heaviest precipitation being offshore. Currently sleeting at1.8C.
Inland snow lying down to around 200 mtrs and falling to lower. Here is the A 822 currently north of Crieff at just over 200 mtrs asl.
edit. Not far off snow here now.

BBC weather radar showed that the heaviest rain is missing us to the East so though it will be wet and snowy on higher ground the heavier stuff has missed, hence the removal of the warnings by the MO.

Miserable here this afternoon. Wet with a cold wind off the North Sea, Temp has fallen from 6.2C in the late morning to 2.4C now.
Strange that the yellow warning has gone. Can only think that they do not think that the rain/snow is going to be as heavy or persistent as they originally forecast.-

Been nice in the sunshine here today in lighter winds with just a couple of rogue showers. Those the type with large drops of rain which happened of course just as I started the first grass cut of the year. Noticed an active ants nest which I am sure is very early, Also bumble bees, a wasp and some midges.

After yesterday's high of nearly 15C today managed just half of that at 7.5C with cloud persisting until this evening. Cooler now at 3.5C

Some overnight showers then sunny intervals through the day with a fresh westerly breeze. A max of 14.8C before it started clouding over later this afternoon is my highest of the year so far.

Lovely sunny morning here with the temperature having risen quite quickly from the low of -2C at 6AM to +7C now. Being March there is a bit of warmth in the sun now.

Miserable, cold and wet here today. Told by relatives that it is snowing to quite low levels up in Highland Perthshire tonight as the colder air digs in. Here is a still from Highland safaris just outside Aberfeldy. And link as pic doesn't show up well.

WINTRY WALES As it is quiet the off topic posts can stay for now. One thing that I noted is that despite the two record breaking events in Chine the overall winter temperatures in the same areas were well above average. Only really Northern Scandinavia and NW Russia in the NH had sustained under average temperatures over most of the whole winter.

5.5C. Dull with light drizzle/rain showers on the light South Easterly breeze. Pretty much the same as all the last few days. A bit of a change from Wednesday but with rain at times coming in from the SW/W.

I had just moved down to London in 1979 so a cool and wet Summer 1980 there was probably what I was used to at home so it made no impact on me whatsoever. Overall I lived in London for four Summers and luckily none were anything like as hot and humid as even the cooler ones are now.

The gloom showed signs of breaking up for a while this morning but the cloud won out. Feeling colder than the current 7C with the breeze having veered round and strengthened a bit from yesterdays SSE to due East today. Hoping for but not really expecting a nicer day tomorrow in Edinburgh as heading off there to meet a few old pals for lunch and a few beers.

A largely dry start to this period with variable cloud and just a few light showers, sunniest in the west. However, while such conditions will be maintained across the north, there is an increasing chance of more unsettled weather returning from the south or southwest during the first weekend, with spells of rain moving north and tending to weaken as they do so. This sets the broad pattern for the subsequent week, with periods or rain or showers in the south accompanied by strong winds at times, and brighter but occasionally showery conditions across the north. Temperatures are most likely to be close to normal, but perhaps mild at times in the south and, especially early on, locally rather cold in the north.

During the second half of March, pressure is likely to remain higher than average to the north or northwest of the UK, which would push the focus of unsettled weather further south than usual (especially early in this period), although there are signs that changeable weather patterns may return more widely later in the month. The greatest build-up of rain is therefore most likely to be in the south, with northern areas rather drier compared with normal. Temperatures will probably be near average overall, with some colder interludes most likely in the north and east.
