  1. Worth keeping your eyes peeled to the south later on today and especially tomorrow Robin as high-res output raises potential for Kent Clippers imported from France
  2. So why are you posting on a weather forum Robin?....Ouch!!! I'm utterly jesting of course matey, just couldn't resist...You left the door open and I just barged on in!
  3. of course, I could aid confusion and state that they've already been discovered........20 years from now
  4. based on the above posts, I have calculated that the England football team have super-luminal properties....You already know when they're going to get beaten before they've even played a game...lol
  5. Quite a lively shower here currently...no flashes or bangs, but some impressive rainfall never the less...I've been tracking it for the past hour as it's tracked NEwards through Salops into Staffs regenerating as it goes
  6. yep Tachyons don't violate SR because they are always at superluminal velocities, they never cross the light barrier to subluminal velocities...yet as I posted it has been theorized that the Higgs starts as a tachyon, how can that be?....My understanding is that higgs only ever existed in nature during the superluminal inflationary epoch (from the Planck time to 10^-30 seconds after the big bang, when symmetry was broken)....or have I got that right?...damn it, need to get my Brian Greene books out and swat up...lol
  7. Yes there is, well, at least theoretical particles called Tachyons.....They are in essence, mass less (or have imaginary mass) particles which gain velocity as they lose energy, ...It's theorized that the Higgs Boson originates as a tachyon and through the breaking of symmetry becomes a sub-luminal particle which has mass
  8. Last thursday apart, the highlighted quote is the funniest thing I've ever read in this forum!!!
  9. Yes, a day that will live long in the memory for many of us without a shadow of doubt
  10. Re. supercells...I refer members to one of Paul Sherman's post's ...... http://forum.netweat...40#entry2327012 In his opinion at least 3 high precip Supercells developed over the east Midlands, and I'd take Paul's analysis without hesitation because as we all know, Paul has more experience of supercells than any other storm chaser in the UK
  11. An interesting thread....I'll make my two penneth short and to the point.....I do feel an adrenaline buzz when I experience severe weather, it's an almost intoxicating feeling which is difficult to put into words, severe thunderstorms, blizzards even hurricanes, all of which I have personally experienced, but the flip side to this is that I feel none of the above when I see or read media reports of loss of life or property due to severe weather, it's quite humbling and shocking when I see reports of thousands of dead due to severe drought (viewing imagery of the terrible droughts in Ethiopia as a child during the 1970's still stays vividly in my memory) or seeing distraught families standing by their unrecognizable remains of their property & possessions after a tornado has rampaged through their town...I sometimes try and put myself into those peoples shoes and ask myself 'how would I feel after suffering their loss'...It's a difficult, if not impossible question to answer unless I personally suffer that kind of loss, which needless to say I haven't......So to sum up, I don't feel guilty in enjoying severe weather, but I fully respect the views of people who don't like severe weather, especially those who have suffered direct losses as a result.......In re-reading this post, it may seem as if I am 'sitting on the fence' but I assure one and all that this is my genuine viewpoint
  12. having a heavy shower here currently...there was a nearby sferic detected from this shower cluster but nothing heard or seen
  13. Southern Germany looks to get absolutely pounded later on today...Estofex have issued a level 3 warning for South Germany which indeed is a rare occurance...I shall be watching SAT24 imagery with great interest later on!! Full Estofex forecast text can be read here -----------> http://www.estofex.org/
  14. Happy Birthday Luke..... Looks like your convective wish has come true.....plenty of activity out there today, a rash of showers over Wales heading our way and all the possibilites of some pulse type storms
  15. not a bad day all in all....a couple of showers this morning then mainly bright and breezy for the rest of the day with temps hovering around the 70F mark.....A chance of some convection tomorrow with even the odd pulse type thunderstorm for the lucky few, and then it's eyes down for mid-week next week for more convective possibilities
  16. lol...just spotted that, what was my mind on at the time I posted? All I can say is that you can take your grammatical corrections and shove them up your bum
  17. Ok, some video footage from this morning's MCS from me the first part is about 5 minutes long, the second just 30 seconds long before my camera ran out of charge.....Visually it's not very impressive as all the lightning was inter-cloud and elevated, but there were at least 1 strike per second and this can be denoted by the constant background 'roar' of thunder, and I mean constant!.....I put a bit of personal narrative in the footage as I was recording to give a sense of what was happening....
  18. Just been linked the following footage on facebook...exact location is unknown but judging by the giant hail it's somewhere near Leicester
  19. I'm creating an archive on NW of all storm footage & stills from today....So I would be really grateful if you can post any footage here for me ----------> http://forum.netweat...ootage-2862012/ Thanks in advance AJ
  20. Here's a few of my village Penkridge around 11am just after the MCS moved away to the NE
  21. I would like to create an archive for this date, so as today was a day of epic proportions for UK thunderstorm activity I thought I'd open a thread or suppository if you will for all still & video footage of today's events from across the country...So if you have any footage of today's events I would be grateful if you can upload it to this thread with a brief narrative, if possible...Also if any members want to upload charts/model data to add as an accompaniment to the thread then please feel free... Many thanks AJ
