  1. Can't remember a rain to snow event in that winter. The last totally unexpected rain to snow event I remember is 11th January 2008 - floods followed by settling snow. That one put to bed the myth of snow not settling on sodden ground. Might you be thinking of 09th Feb 2007? That one was a constant alternation of snow and rain in central Bristol, and came on a Friday.
  2. Going to Bath tomorrow to catch the end of the Christmas markets (that close ridiculously early in December!) and a number of forecasts I've seen are showing rain in the morning, a sharp drop in temperatures and snow in the afternoon. Impossible to know what might happen it would seem.
  3. Looks like tomorrow's snow is too far north and Monday's potential is too far south.
  4. Similarly, I won't be going in the mod thread either this weekend. After yesterday's disappointment, I don't think I can take pleasure from watching the next one turn up. Would rather now have a cold high with some low minima, like last year, to get the temps down ahead of any snow.
  5. Been snowing at Bristol Airport too apparently. Temps still too high for anything to settle at the moment. Some cold spell.
  6. Need to get some properly cold air in first. Nothing too impressive at the moment.
  7. It is. I don't know what's causing it as most of them are making it over the Welsh mountains. They obviously see Newport and die a death (as do I when I drive past it).
  8. Yes, dp just below 0. Been watching that clump, bit too far east from here. Need stuff between Newport and Cardiff to stop evaporating lol.
  9. Nothing so far here. Any showers have gone either side. Doesn't seem cold enough for snow either at 02.5C.
  10. Relying on your reports for early tomorrow morning for a potential drive over to the Mendips for a snowy walk.
  11. Dp hovering just above 0 here and the temperature has stopped dropping. Still a little away from 'cold spell' territory. Hopefully temperatures will lower considerably before any showers arrive.
  12. Not of course forgetting 2013, which I was sadly not in the country for. On a side note, I've always wondered why snow showers have so much more of a problem with the Welsh mountains than rain showers do.
  13. Indeed Smartie! Also couldn't help but chuckle at Tomasz Schafernaker's mention of strong winds from Caroline's backside... (easily amused).
  14. Give it time. Consistently falling here and most importantly the dew point is falling considerably. From 11-12C dps earlier on to 3C now.
  15. ... and that temperature is on the slide. 12C earlier, now down to 8.5C.
  16. I think it may be time to bury the M4 (no pun intended) then the snowline doesn't have such an easy guideline!
