  1. Remember this may quite well. Particularly the gales and volume of rain on the 04th-05th, and the thunderstorms on the 10th-11th (a common time for thunderstorms). As you mention, it was the unusual combination of warm hazy sunshine and N-S movement of storms. The sort of weather more common when they move E-W. That was the last sizeable rainfall until the 31st/01st, then another long rainless spell until the 21st June… before that notable summer gale! The summer never quite recovered after that.
  2. Harry233 2009 is actually a really good comparison. June the best month, July horrific, and August fair. Shame we couldn’t have had a 09/10 winter redux…
  3. Get back from Marbella on Saturday. The weather has one job… be nice on Sunday! Even in 2024, can it manage that?
  4. WYorksWeather Not uncommon to have mid twenties at all. Such happened in 2001, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 give or take a week…
  5. Nope. Just pointing out what the models are showing. Try again.
  6. No I think it has to stop completely, at least for a few weeks!
  7. There was a westerly interlude from the 13th to the 20th, but up until that point it and thereafter very much not.
  8. danm Looks like I was in one of the driest parts of the country relative to average. Not surprising as we bagged 58mm for the month… the driest month since last August’s 49mm!
  9. Absolutely pouring down outside... seemingly out of nowhere. Atmosphere is certainly ripe for last minute shenanigans.
  10. stainesbloke Could’ve been 2007 or 2011, although the latter wasnt sunny.
  11. Bristawl Si Need to de grime my patio but it needs 2 days of guaranteed dry after so, of course, haven’t done it yet and I’m going away next week!
  12. Scorcher Oh yeah defo. Must be grim up on the moors and the coasts especially.
  13. Scorcher around the time of that map it was actually 16°C here, not the 14 shown, so it’s not been tooooo bad. Getting very dull now though.
  14. stainesbloke In London? I think it was recently warm that month in London without ever being overly hot. Lots of southwesterly winds so humid air. The final weekend was much fresher though following a gale on the 28th.
  15. SunSean You’re being plagued by cloud going up the east coast and I’m being plagued by cloud up the west coast. Sunny intervals though and although windy, the air is quite warm.
  16. danm ECM was quite keen on higher pressure and sunshine this weekend. A number of websites like XC and yr.no also showed fine warm weather over the weekend. Not such now.
  17. Must admit I was expecting worse here this weekend. Most of the rain came last night, and didn't even leave 5mm. It's been dry all day during daylight hours today and now the sun is sort of out with blue sky more visible to the west. Still chilly in that wind though!
  18. sunny_vale and 2022 was pretty good after mid March.
  19. Penrith Snow Not a problem. I think anyone of sane mind knows we will not evolve into a Mediterranean climate anytime soon…
  20. Penrith Snow The sarcasm was lost on you I see…
  21. In Absence of True Seasons Oh yeah definitely, if we’ve had a stinker spring and/or summer then nice weather come Sept/Oct it does feel a bit wasted. Definitely felt that a bit in late Sept and early October 2008… Likewise cold in March and April after a naff winter.
