  1. It's been trying to rain for about an hour, not very successfully. Feels really humid and depressingly grey again. And it's still sunny in the bloody southeast!
  2. I won't even mention that abomination of a month by name. Sufficed to say I'm really dreading a repeat, as last month wasn't too dissimilar to June 2010.
  3. Hate to have to disagree, but the pattern in the 80s/90s was typically hot and sunny SE, warm and mostly sunny SW, Midlands, Wales up to Yorkshire, cloudy only from the Lake District up, if anywhere. This SE hot/sunny vs everywhere else cloudy phenomenon is a 21st century thing. So while the SE bas always been the warmest in summer, the difference seems much more pronounced and localised now.
  4. Well it's way past 1500 and still grey here.... about an hour of brightness about 1pm was all we had. Get lost cloud, go to London or Dorset! Looking at the Sat pics that dividing line has been in the same place all day, despite a fairly brisk breeze- what a joke
  5. If only every summer sunshine anomaly map looked like that! It really wasn't a bad month at all here, let down only by the lack of a 25C+ reading. July had better not carry on with this SE-only heat, it's the absolute worst kind of summer setup for me.
  6. That is ABSOLUTELY the worst kind of Sat pic, even worse than cloud covering all of Europe. Happens far too often, especially since 2006. Was sunny for a while about an hour ago, but gone very grey now. Doesn't seem to be either frontal or convective/infill cloud, just annoying grey rubbish.
  7. This just seems fated to be the year of no temperature extremes, doesn't it? Loads of very pleasant 22s and 23s in warm sunshine during June, but it just couldn't make the 25, even that Sunday when there was high pressure, no wind and 15 hours of sunshine. Just like we couldn't get below -2 or -3 during the winter on clear nights, that's if it got below freezing at all. Temperature range this year to date is just 27.5C: it's easy to beat that in a month here.
  8. At least it hasn't produced a SE v the rest for today at least- but another strange thing about this "front": there's hardly any rain on it! The radar shows just a few patches, mostly over high ground. As for cirrus pushing in, there hasn't been any here, it was straight from clear skies to altostratus.
  9. Almost totally clouded here now, was hazy earlier- thought that front was supposed to go north of here? Was actually more haze than forecast overnight as well.
  10. Really disappointing amount of cloud around this morning, given the forecast and.how clear it was last night. Only the far SW was meant to be affected I thought.
  11. I can't find one for here: the lowest yearly max I can find for Shawbury is 25.8 in 1985.
  12. Cleared well from the North since 2pm, as satellite suggested it would. Now long sunny spells and only 3/8 cumulus.
  13. Was nice this morning, but that nuisance cloud has reappeared in the last hour or so. Hopefully it'll beggar off again soon. This month has been warmer overall than June 2013, but the absolute max hasn't been very much higher. Lots of 22s and 23s is fine with sunshine.
  14. No thunder in that lot, just pesky moderate rain. If we can't get thunder I don't want rain, would spoil our chance of a dry sunny warm summer month
  15. Throwing it down now, not seen any lightning yet though
  16. No rain at all from this thunderstorm yet, but it's very dark to the S and SE. Raintoday suggests the heaviest rain is W of here but the sun is visible in that direction..
  17. Yep, it's thundering here. Sunny overhead but very dark to S and heard 2 loud cracks
  18. One faint rumble, like the weather god is farting at us again
  19. That band is passing right over now and it's given no thunder or lightning at all! This area is unbelievable, look at those strikes just 15 miles south
  20. Just started raining here but not heard any thunder. If even Telford can get it surely....
  21. Mostly very light rain, but been going for hours. Hopefully clearing soon, really dont want this month spoilt by a load of non thundery rain right at the end pushing it above average a la July 2013......
  22. No rain here, a grey morning but sun trying to appethethe ar now. Really hope its not too wet the next few days and we manage some sun; as this month stands a chance of being warmer, drier and sunnier than average at the moment. The last summer month to do so was June 2010.
  23. Just looking at the stats on Roger Brugge's site: it really is amazing how many sites so far have an average max above 20C for June, yet have not reached 25C. Much of the west Midlands (Shawbury, Coleshill, Church Lawford) and large parts of the south and east, as well as Wales. Note how far inland some of these sites are, yet they still can't breach the 23-24C barrier near the solstice. This lack of variation in maxima has been a constant theme of every month this year.
