  1. Etna putting on a lovely show tonight.

  2. UHH! A chiily 13C here in Bognor at 6:50pm and feeling even colder with a strong force 6 wind blowing and very heavy showers plus more persistent rain at times. Wonder if it will break a record for low July temperature tonight.

    1. 95 Degrees

      95 Degrees

Cloud will prevent it doing so I think, temperatures will be stable at 13-12C all night!

  3. I see on the news that Bognor had a small tornado. Not sure if it was yesterday or today. I would think it was yesterday as it was very stormy then. Still very little damage compared to the one 11 years ago.

If you look at the convection thread, there is one or two reports in there about page 13 or so! Also, I was asking after you, dear CF so I hope you're ok.

  4. Curses! Thunderstorms all passing over Chicchester and missing Bognor, all i hear is rumbles but no lightning for about an hour now. ;-(

  5. Phew it is going to be hard to sleep tonight. Almost 11:00pm and the temp is still 20.8C on the coast. must be horrible inland! temp of 27.7C in the bedroom tonight, how can anyone sleep in that sort of temperature when we have only been having 15C lately?

    1. Bottesford

      Bottesford

By lying still, opening as many windows as you can and wearing as little as possible. You'll soon cool as you sleep more than likely reaching for at least a sheet in the night.

  6. Birds seem to be pretty happy in my garden now, first time they have seen worms for a long, long time. One snag. grass will now need cutting again. ;-(

It seems to be unusually warm all round. 15C in the Midlands must be pretty unusual in February I would have thought! My husband saw two seperate blackbirds sitting on nests already in the local park. Hope the weather lasts.

I saw a couple of bees today too. Dont think ive seen them in February before or not for a long time.

Yes I've seen lots of birds gathering nest material in my garden and I too have also seen a couple of bees this afternoon.

  8. My thoughts are with everyone suffering in this new earthquake in NZ. 6,5 but dreadfully shallow so at lot more destruction than usual for that magnitude.

It's awful. I hope the rebuilding projects are earthquake-proof. Cob-buildings built the right way fall are much more hardy against earthquakes than conventional brick/concrete.

Indeed. Seems so strange for this to be happening in a well developed country. Shows that none of us are immune from nature!

  9. Hi Heavywater, you haven't posted in a while, and you may need to update your location soon.

  10. Why when it rains does it never stop and when it snows it just sprinkles?

I suppose all this rain will stave off hosepipe bans this summer, better now than during the summer too!

  12. Hi DeepSnow, I truly love the fantastic snowy picture behind this profile. Thank you for putting it up!

  13. LARGE increase in quakes in the Eyja and Katla area

Ah, there is the difference then. Mostly the cold spell in sunny Bognor was sharp frosts and blue sky, wonderful weather.

As to gas bills, well i am a very lucky pensioner who now gets gov help with the annual heating allowance. must admit the gas bills last year with no help was horrendous. Certainly depends on circumstances doesn't it!

      Thundery wintry showers

Each to their own really. Personally I quite enjoy mild sunny weather (e.g. 8-20 Feb 2008) and those "mild with blustery squally showers" type setups but can't say I care much for mild dull damp drizzly stuff...

  17. Could Eyjafjallajokul erupt again?

  18. WOW. Insane! 9 inches of snow in Bognor in early December! Some years we never see a flake and never before late December or Jan

  19. Redwing in the park, snow on the way! Well definitely cold weather anyway. The birds know you know.

  20. Stormyking, saw the flooding on the local news as well as around Bognor and Chcihester with Selsey cut off for a while by two feet deep floods. 80mm in Bognor overnight!

    1. coldfingers

      coldfingers

I think the problem was caused by the low pressure stalling so the torrential rain staying in our area rather than move away.

  21. 3 inches is too much rain. bad flooding in the area.

  22. Hi camperston. My grandmother came from Brum and was a very colourful character with a lovely accent.

  23. Just had kids knocking on the door for 'trick or treat'! Am I getting senior moments or was it last week?

  24. Sunny here in Bognor and temp of 22C. Too warm for me. Want frost.
