  1. Really worth watching the Bognor webcam now. Only 20 mins to high tide and it is blowing a hooley out there. This is a 4.5 metre tide yet is already up higher than the 6 metre tide earlier this year. http://www.bognorregisbeach.co.uk/live
  2. Back to gusting Force 12 and lights flickering again. Not done that since '85. Oh dear, just sounded like a tile sliding down the roof, they are really heavy ones too! Must tell family not to go out until morning.
  3. I live here and would be surprised to see the waves hitting the shops. Wouldn't be surprised if the fishermen come down to move their boat soon though. Sea water not been on to the road in Bognor seafront since '87 but tonight seems to be the worst since then in my view. Especially seeing we haven't reached the peak of the storm yet. My house is starting to creak in some of the more severe gusts and I can hear the tiles lifting. Hope they stay on!
  4. Now Bognor has Force 10 mean speed and Force 12 gusts. 67.5 knots or 77.5 mph. http://www.chimet.co.uk/%28S%28c50t5n3hum0yyp45051ooq55%29%29/Default.aspx Still getting worse. How high can it go?
  5. Pagham is the area most at risk tonight. The last severe storm the defences were breached and a couple of roads were flooded. What is most worrying is that the beach is disappearing at a rate of knots and the houses are now perilously close to the edge! If I lived there I would sleep elsewhere tonight.
  6. Looks like Southampton gust recorded a 65 knot gust.75 mph. It is supposed to get worse later! I do hope not.
  7. Southampton now Force 10 gusting 11. not often they get winds that high!! Oh dear, now Bognor has F10 gusting 11 too. And thankf for the reply Chris.
  8. 74 knots constant wind shown. That is 85 mph mean speed. WOW! As you say Hurricane force. Where is Prawle Point though? Cornwall?
  9. Southampton now gusting Force 11. 59.3 knots or 69mph http://www.sotonmet.co.uk/%28S%28ddecbdnkaec3wq55zf4ase45%29%29/default.aspx And CHIMET not far behind with Force 11 58.2 knots or 67mph http://www.chimet.co.uk/%28S%281x450fexmzkdow45oofidbik%29%29/Default.aspx Please! I don't want it to get worse than a force 11. Not when we have 4 hours until the worst is supposed to be here anyway. Perhaps it is coming through earlier? Hopefully.
  10. I don't know how correct that quote is but I personally have always found their data to be very slow in updating as it has always been far windier here than the XCweather site is showing for wind.
  11. Now gusting 60 mph and ceilings creaking and tiles rattling. Nearly 4 hours until it is supposed to peak here.
  12. Wind has now gone up to a Force 9 gusting 10. Very strong gusts now and far more frequent. High tide isn't due for another 3 and a half hours yet but looking at the web cam is far higher up the beach than should be. http://www.bognorregisbeach.co.uk/live A good cam as it gives the sound as well as video.
  13. Marie, it will head your way soon, it was relatively quiet for a while here too but the wind has now risen to a Gale force 8 gusting storm force 10. Patience is a virtue.
  14. Southampton catching it already. http://www.sotonmet.co.uk/%28S%28qbghobfb3mmu3vi3ruxpdj55%29%29/default.aspx Force 10
  15. Highest Gust 70.0 mph at 13:35 Highest Speed (10 minute average) 23.0 mph (F5) at 13:28 That is rather a high gust of wind for a 23mph wind! Sure this is accurate?
  16. OH! Wind now gusting to 50knots /57mph, Force 10 Mean wind speed 46 mph and it isn't supposed to be bad until midnight. What is going to happen at midnight?
