  1. Hey guys Today while working on the farm I help out I cam across this rock that came up on the spud harvester. I have absolutely no idea what it is! To think I did geology at school too. it's very heavy, not magnetic (Yes I did wonder if it was a meteorite!!) and just really out of place compared to the rocks in the surrounding area (worfield) Heres a picture of the underside too Looked around on the net and didn't really find anything other than red sandstone - which it ain't that! Any clues? K
  2. 1600. I didn't want to go much higer as im told it can come out abit grainy?
  3. I must admit I like the pic with the clouds in, I dunno it adds like a mood to the picture, quite cool really. I wasn't really trying for the milky way msyelf just randomly trying it out. Went in my garden, pointed the camera up andf hoped for the best Did used a starter guide from Sky at Night mag too
  4. Hey guys As you might remember I bought a EOS 1100d earlier in the year. Having had a play over the last few months I have finally had a crack at the whole reason I bought the camera for - astrophotography! Now don't get me wrong, this aint no masterpiece or anything like that, but you have no idea how thrilled I am with it as its my first try! Shot in Raw mode, 4.5fp, 30sec exposer focused at infinity. Ok so first thing is the exposure is too long, stars are starting to trail. The bright star right centre is Vega. So any pointers? Kain
  5. Hmm don't think our end will see anything, looking very clear behind the front on the radar
  6. Woah holy hell we just had a deluge and a half here! Gutters and carpark flooded outside and no sky tv signal again!
  7. Heavy rain again here and extreamly dark - Sky signal knocked out too! Yet its so close and sticky. please go boom
  8. Quite grey here but very muggy even after the downpours we have had. Just steady drizzle now though.
  9. Lol could borrow my 10 inch dob? Would be upside down though! Going slightly off topic sorta. Did I read somehwere that theres a chace for a plume event over the weeked? El Bridgnortho maybe? Nah...I'll get my coat
  10. Well this makes a change im down south for once visiting mates in Fareham for a few weeks! So i come down south from the west to see stuff missing from down here too lol damn it! Its muggy here and quite overcast but there is a chance for later and with the GFS showing a little cape could help kick it off. Damn would i like to be in france lol
  11. Just watching the sferics towards ludlow from my kitchen window. was quite calming actually seeing the towers light up but hearing no thunder. That stuff in mid wales has a few sferics in it, possibly if it holds up in an hour or 2.....
  12. Still learning with the DSLR (Canon 1100d) So im kinda just trying things out while still being pretty clueless. Anyway I took this little fella (House Martin), I swear if he could talk he would be saying 'What the hell you looking at?" Quite pleased really! K
  13. Really when overnight? Iv'e been abit out the loop for the last few days with a cold. We got anything comming my way AJ?
  14. Lol Nick, You never Iv'e never really thought of that! Cb's with piles
  15. Some nice pileus on that one, (that thin 'hood' over the top of the Cb) Also looks to be a little Velum too, which is thin altostratus the CB punches though. That could have been what we saw on the first pic? I still can't see an anvil just yet
  16. Im not so sure its an anvil mate, if you look carefully its behind the Cb?
  17. Iv'e always loved severe weather, as others have mentioned its an adrenaline rush. Take El Brumo on the 28th, I loved every minute of it! The storm we had sent chills down my spine but it was such a rush standing outside filming it and then getting pelted by point coin sized hail! Am I a nutter? Probably, but its no different jumping out of airplanes, or off bridges tied a giant piece of knicker elastic! Do I feel bad when I see people hurt and injured? Of course I do! It won't stop me loving severe weather though. Something I have always said to my family, if I get killed while out in a storm filming or whatever, remember I died doing what I love.
  18. Very muggy here and quite breezy. Nothing due for us though...were saving that for next week
  19. Kudos to the Shropshire Star (my local paper) actually attributed the storms yesterday to a Spanish Plume event!
  20. Ahh sorry didn't see it on NW facebook unless it was your own FB as I don't have that. Just looked at the bowtie funnels as you said too. Its pretty amazing stuff! would never have guessed it would have been even possible! cheers for that
