  1. Is that code for a giant willy?
  2. Bloody Amazon getting everywhere!
  3. Can we call it Om for short? Interesting object, suspect it's a primordial collision fragment. Must all sorts of weird shaped odds and bobs floating around in space. On the other hand . . .
  4. Bit of a non event overnight (Kp4) and I was clouded out anyway. Solar wind speed now up to 500km/ s and Bz bouncing about with spells of -10 deg. Looks as if the US is getting a good show atm.
  5. Currently Bz about -10 deg (southward) and KP at 4. Solar wind speed is still fairly low at around 340km/s but should pick up. Hopefully 600km/s or above. Forecast (Solarham) is still for Kp6 tonight and tomorrow so looking good for later. Warm thermals, it's Baltic out there!...
  6. Ok, Don't get too excited, it's just a forecast but Solarham has Kp6 slotted for December 4th.
  7. Woke up to this today! Not much at sea level and most has melted now, still a good bit on the hills though.
  8. Smattering of wet snow this morning at sea level at Kylerhea, Skye this morning. Went to Portree yesterday and all the high ground fairly well covered. 1C going over the moor. Hills looking beautiful today.
  9. Close but along the beach a couple of hundred yards or so. Mostly grey and wet today so extra logs on the burner and just lazing about in between walking the dog.
  10. taken from the front door of our wee cottage at Kylerhea a few minutes ago looking over the kyle to the mainland. Chilly but beautiful weather and the dog loves the beach!
  11. Off to your part of the world on Saturday for a week. Hoping for clear skies with maybe an outside chance of aurora
  12. Group 2687 brings the blank run to an end. SpaceWeather has it as stable with minimal chance of flares.
  13. Spotless or not, faint aurora tonight 07 Nov 017 and a moondog! 8 sec, f1.8, iso eq.100 taken about 9.00pm
  14. Just back in from walking the dog. Nothing visible yet but Bz has just tipped South again. Will keep an eye out. Sky not too bad, some low cloud and streaky high level cirrus but stars visible. Crescent moon won't be a problem.
  15. New moon is on 19th. Oct, (today) with highest spring tides 1 or 2 later. Could be an issue for coastal areas.
  16. Has a run been made ignoring the faulty buoy data?
  17. It's the saturated ground and leafload that makes the wind effect much worse. Roots get loosened and the leaves make them top heavy. Add the wind and you are left with firewood.
  18. Dear BBC, What has a storm 30 years ago in the SE of England got to do with current news of Ophelia? More appropriate to a history program than a rolling news broadcast. Simply drivel to bury other news..
  19. Less concerned about absolute wind speeds, more about sustained speeds. Also, how much rain is associated with Ophelia? We already have ground that's pretty well saturated and trees still heavily laden with leaves. I can see some uprooting and branches coming off. Could see a lot of disruption in the West and Central Belt of Scotland. Flooding a possibility as well. Not into Express doomagedon territory but could be nasty all the same.
  20. In the same way that a dog can go from deep snoring to fully awake the minute you make a move for the fridge Freely admit I'm an aurora freak and the busier the sun is the better from my perspective. Coronal holes, big sunspots, huge earth directed flares; bring it on! Just hope the next cycle is a bit more interesting than the current one.
  21. Mild here in Fife with total cloud cover. A wee bit smurr in the air at times. Typical, aurora kicking off! Worth a peek out if you have clear skies.
  22. KP picking up again. Fully clouded out here but worth a look out if you have clear skies to the North.
