  1. Been in Staffordshire today. Very hot and sunny but clouded over around half 3. Then got blustery and very fine rain. Didn't need the wipers on the way home. Clouded over now and rain due.
  2. For those of us not very savvy with charts, could you please post and explain what it's showing?
  3. I saw a very fair skinned child yesterday who was lobster red with typical clothing strap marks. Her mother suddenly said she should put sun cream on to stop her burning. Bit late me thinks. Anyhow, spent a good 15 minutes applying my factor 50 to face, neck and arms, wore long sleeves and a hat and wore a light scarf which covered my neck and shoulders. My OH's mum wore one to an air show last summer to stop her neck burning and I have to say it was a bloody good idea! I agree. People forget high cloud still let's the sun in. I have worn high SPF suncream for decades because I hated being sunburnt in 1976. No idea of the temp in East Kirkby yesterday but it was burning hot. Today was very hot with almost cloudless blue skies. Oregon clock currently reads 26.6 degrees. Gonna be an uncomfortable night again.
  4. Off to East Kirkby tomorrow. 25 forecast. Taking hat and factor 50. I do not like sitting in the sun for hours on end.
  5. I meant to put this up last night. Sunset clouds here. Looked like rain could be about.
  6. I picked up the chickens yesterday. The heat difference down south was noticeable.
  7. It's been a nice few days. The ground has had a good drink. We have all been able to sleep and my 300 mile journey to pick up my chickens won't be in excessive heat. Took some gorgeous pics this evening.
  8. This weather is so refreshing. Even the dog is happy. It's great for the parched Earth and all the wildlife seeking some water and respite. The more I read about the weekend, the more I don't think I want to be out in it. Looking a bit hot for me.
  9. You could be right. Let's hope not, though, eh?
  10. Having lived 47 years in the SE and having now moved to the East Midlands, I appreciate the slightly lower temps here. Not everyone can deal with heat and it's always an argument causing debate. I too appreciate this cooler weather and as previously mentioned I will miss more outside stuff in heat than in cold or even warm and wet. It's nice to see extremes in weather. Surely that is why we are all here? But a blustery rainy day is still weather and a change is always interesting. Roll on Autumn
  11. Oh no I am going to an airshow on Saturday and an outdoor event on Sunday. Factor 50 for me then.
  12. Been warm but obviously cooler than of late, and extremely windy here. About 4pm the rain started. Real, proper rain. The air feels so fresh but the winds are still lively and every so often the rain gets harder again. I am so pleased. For the gardens, for the wildlife and for us. I think there was just a weird distant thunder rumble. I never moan about rain, it's only water. And everything on the planet needs it!
  13. Tomorrow looking favourable for this.
  14. Lovely and cool last night. It has rained but I was getting some needed sleep. Sunny cloud now. Oregon Scientific clock says 19.5 degrees C. Bliss.
  15. Well we got something today. I can confirm it's still hot and muggy here.
  16. We have had a little light rain which has made it very muggy and horrible.
  17. Got dark. Had light rain for about 3 minutes. It's tantalising criminal teasing us like this.
  18. Apparently, as I was spark out, 4 minutes of heavy rain and the storm cloud has dispersed here. Still ridiculously hot and I suspect we will not get any storms. I can hear very distant rumbling which will be the one over near Grantham I guess.
  19. I stand corrected. OH said we had 4 minutes of heavy rain which has all evaporated!
  20. Several sources say we were 30 degrees today. I fell asleep and have woken wondering what happened to the lump of ppn that was coming up from the south. Well it fragmented and stuff with rain drifted slightly East. It is STILL 29.6 in the bedroom with just my a grey/white cloudy and sunny sky outside. Accuweather just gave me warning for heavy rain but it's passing by here again. Feel a little cheated.
  21. Hoping for some activity East of Loughborough. Had a 10 minute slash and crash last night. Saw the light show around 4.30am over Grantham way. Just hope we get something. We have had clear skies but now getting cloud rolling in.
  22. Just had the dog bark and saw lightning. There is a very active cell going up across Oakham towards Grantham. Luckily we are quite high here so had a nice, quite unobstructed view. Heard a couple of rumbles but saw a lovely light show. As virtually no thunder heard, the dog wasn't creating merry hell which is a rare treat. Room temp 25.1 and uncomfortable.
