  1. Same! A good burst of snow for 10 minutes. Enough to cover the grass and side streets. Wife insisted she saw lightning out the front window earlier. I told her she was wrong…..Turns out i was the wrong one.
  2. Heavy snow just south of Morningside in Edinburgh! Easily the best snowfall of the year so far. Probably about 2.5cm accumulation so far, but getting some good bursts of snow bands every 20 minutes or so.
  3. At least we can take pride in the fact that Eunice's center is passing right overhead!
  4. Although I must say, I've not seen such high confidence levels for significant snowfall before. And from ensembles as well! (Units in inches)
  5. I think the cutoff on the northern edge of the precipitation will be quite sharp, especially with a fairly strong low pressure system. That said, I am hopeful that we see at least some measurable snow here in Edinburgh!
  6. Edinburgh weather as Arctic plunge brings freezing temperatures to Scotland - Edinburgh Live WWW.EDINBURGHLIVE.CO.UK As north of Scotland fell below 0, Edinburgh residents will feel the chill as temperatures drop to freezing this week before snow is forecasted for the central belt. These kinds of stories are just awful. No attempt at accuracy at all
  7. A surprise dusting of snow in south Edinburgh this morning! 02ABB46D-BAB0-41F4-B76C-B3A7BFD41CA4.heic
  8. Haven't been as active on here recently, but Happy New Year! And what a strange ending to a strange year. 11.6 degrees in south Edinburgh with less than 3 hours to go until midnight. ?
  9. Curious little feature over the capital this morning. Isolated and stationary line of showers. Likely a sea breeze front I think?
  10. Proper cold this morning! 32.7°F (0.3°C) for a low in Morningside. Coldest reading since April 13th.
  11. Good to know that the brown hills in April/May aren't too abnormal. And thats an interesting and informative point on the regrowth! I hadn't thought of that, but then again, I am too knowledgable on how land regenerates itself on an annual manner. I use the good ole and super scientific "eyeball" test. But it does sound like crop stress is starting to become a concern "“In Europe, as the recent cold period eases, attention has shifted to ongoing dryness after little or no rain fell in France, Germany and the UK over the past few weeks, increasing concerns over crop stress,” said Mr Lane." Source: Grain prices pushed higher as weather worries grow - Farmers Weekly WWW.FWI.CO.UK A nervous grain market saw November 2021 London feed wheat futures rise by more than £6/t on Thursday (22 April) to just over £186/t, another new contract
