Looking out the window....is pointless. It's like a grey blind has been drawn. Oncoming day shift report as follows; it's bloody horrible out. So there you have it, Ayrshire in rubbish weather shocker.
Meanwhile, on the medical front, my reinflated lung collapsed again two nights ago leading to a high drama surgical intervention with a second drain being installed. I am now Puffy Two Drains and quite famous in the department. Doctors come from far and wide to examine me and the nurses just hang around and swoon....

C'mon, @Puffy MacCloud, surely there's something to report from hospital! Young female nurses usually.
I'm here, I'm here. And I'll be here a while. I seem to have picked up a pneumothorax, a collapsed lung and a chest drain. Not much to say on the young female nurses front, nor back, because I seem to have been sleeping for the last week. Think I saw some gorgeous angels though. Weather fine and warm. Morphine jaegerbombers are heartily recommended. Have you met my ostrich? He's just over there....

An interesting day. Weatherwise, it improved from light overcast this morning to clear blue sky and bright sunshine this afternoon, and warm bordering on very warm in my bedroom. Also, I spotted a great post on the local facebook page in connection the Ukrainian conflict, whereby the good villagers in a place down the road have made their feelings clear. (Their village is pronounced Moss-Cow, for whatever reason.) Healthwise, despite feeling absolutely blooming awful, I had an argument with Nurse after she announced that it’s been decided I’m to go into hospital tomorrow. I said I didn’t want to as I’d be more comfortable at home. (Plus I’m never quite sure whether I’ve got a return ticket.) She said it’s been decided, you’re going in. I said I wouldn’t go. “Will.” “Won’t.” “Will.” “Won’t.” “I’ll get the consultant on to you then.” Bring him on…” This afternoon the consultant ‘phoned and we had a frank exchange of views that resulted in a compromise. The ambulance will be here tomorrow morning and I will have my toothbrush and ‘phone charger ready to go. He also said to bring jammies. I mistook this for an out. “I don’t possess jammies.” “Jammies will be provided!” So that’s that. Hospital it is. Bugger.

Pardon my absence, I’ve been unwell, and I have a letter of excuse from my Mum who, incidentally, in her late 80s, moved in with me for five days to look after me. How pathetic is that? Followed by my brother who is recovering from cancer treatment, followed by my Spanish daughter, followed by my brother from Cyprus, all as well as seeing much more of the nurse, but not in a physical sense because that would be deeply distressing. Currently the act of rising from horizontal in bed to a sitting position entails my lungs going into spasm and my chest feeling like it will explode. Even so, looking through the bedroom window and seeing the beautiful blue skies and sun drenched streetscape of the past several days has made sitting up well worth it. It’s been utterly glorious, at least between coughing fits. Then, this afternoon, the nurse confirmed that I have covid. Everybody out! I doubt this will go well.

Aye, Vlad The Inhaler.
Today was a bit back to front compared to recent days in that it started dull but got brighter, ending up quite nice really. At the time of my last visit to the weather station console in my study, Sunday I think it was, I was celebrating clear blue skies and sunshine. Since then, the sunshine mainly prevailed with Monday starting frosty and sunny until mid-morning when a band of cloud was blown from south to north through the middle of the day and then it cleared again mid-afternoon with sunshine through to sunset, while yesterday started frosty with sunshine, which lasted until lunchtime when the cloud started rolling in under a front from the west and has remained. No frost nor sunshine today though, and an overcast morning has given way to a wet afternoon. Spring is over. Ruined. I give up on the weather. That’s it. Nobody loves me, everybody hates me, I think I’ll go and eat worms. Etc.
High temperature for today was 8.5⁰C at 09:50 up from a low of 6.0⁰C at 00:09, minimum humidity was 79% at 05:34 and now 86%, wind is 6 to 16mph southerly with a maximum gust of 24mph at 10:07, pressure is 1005.8hPa rising slowly, there’s been 2.8mm of rainfall today and 5.0mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is 8/8 and the dew point is at 6⁰C.

This is the third gloriously sunny day in a row, which is a fine way to raise the spirits. Crisp, frosty starts too, so all is good.
High temperature was 8.8⁰C at 13:06 up from a low of -2.9⁰C at 07:20 and now 8.2⁰C after a sudden drop, humidity is 60%, wind 0 to 5mph southerly with a maximum gust of 5mph at 12:21, pressure is 1032.9hPa falling slowly from a maximum of 1034.4hPa at 09:33, there’s been 0.2mm of ‘rain’ recorded today but I think that must have been melting frost, cloud cover is 1/8 and the dew point is at 2⁰C.

Dull and cold again, all day, with some determined drizzle in the morning, but the sky is finally clearing from the west so it should be a brighter day tomorrow. Nice enough today though to get out for lunch for the first time in a long time. Walked there and back too. Just.
Overnight temperature around 6.4⁰C rose to a high of 8.3⁰C at 13:38 and has now fallen to a low for the day of 4.6⁰C, humidity is 90%, wind has dropped to nothing from a maximum gust of 14mph northwesterly at 04:18, pressure is 1017.0hPa rising slowly, 2.2mm of rain fell today, cloud cover is 7/8 and the dew point is at 3⁰C.

Despite it being a colder and duller day than yesterday, I decided to get up at 07:00 and make the most of it. ‘The most of it,’ so far, has been disappointing as I’ve just woken up, again, following a three-hour nap. Still, onwards and upwards…
The high temperature for the day so far was 5.9⁰C at 11:15 up from a minimum of -1.7⁰C at 03:37 and now 5.8⁰C, humidity is 84%, wind 3 to 5mph easterly with a maximum gust of 11mph at 10:54, pressure is 1017.7hPa falling quickly, there’s been no rainfall in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is 8/8 and the dew point is at 3⁰C.

Spring has sprung and I’ve celebrated the occasion by springing, sort of, out of bed to get a different view of what is a very nice, sunny day.
Temperature is currently the high for today at 9.7⁰C up from a low of -1.0⁰C at 04:00, humidity is 70%, there is no measurable wind now but a maximum gust of 3mph was recorded at 10:59, pressure is 1029.5hPa falling slowly, there’s been 0.2mm of rainfall today and 0.6mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is 2/8 and the dew point is at 4⁰C.
February 2022 highs: temperature 10.4⁰C, humidity 96%, wind 30mph (sheltered), pressure 1028.1hPa, precipitation 212.8mm and dew point 8⁰C
February 2022 lows: temperature -4.2⁰C, humidity 67%, pressure 974hPa and dew point -5⁰C.

Snow on the ground now thawing even with regular sleet/snow showers trying to add to the covering. Mainly adding to depth of slush now.
Forecast for tomorrow has a yellow warning for snow, (note: not a yellow snow warning, which is an entirely different thing,) but the hourly symbols pertain to sunshine and the temperature is foretold to be 8C. Me confused.

Man, those colours are so intense, they're flashing and moving and... and... man I have to go and lie down.... oh wow this is good stuff...
That's the only reason I go into the model thread, for the nice squiggly lines and the pretty colours. Reminds me of Friday afternoons at primary school when we did colouring-in. Little did I realise then that I was producing forecasts for fantasy island.
Wet today, started at 11:00 with quite a wintry squall and now an assortment of heavy and light rain showers. And I'm still suffering from the nurse-chill effect. Younger daughter is on holiday in the Canary Islands. It's raining there also. Ha!

Last Thursday, as best as I recall, was a nice sunny day with a bit of a breeze, Friday was a stormy day with a scattering of brief snow showers, Saturday was a nice sunny day with a bit of a breeze, yesterday was stormy with a couple of brief snow showers, and today was a nice sunny day with breezy bits. I'm hoping this pattern has now reached its conclusion because I could do without another storm, as could the bird feeder stands, which are now more accurately described as firewood having been blown over a total of five times now.
Nurse says it was cold out today, which I have every reason to believe as she didn't bother warming her hands before doing what she does.

Well it’s certainly not up there with Hurricane Bawbag but then neither is it a lowly Brisk Breeze Bumfart, so hardly worth getting up for and I’m only slightly impressed. Time yet for improvement maybe. Roll on Blizzard Brass Monkey on Friday, which in Ayrshire is likely to be 1cm of slush.
The temperature today rose from 5.0⁰C at midnight to a high of 10.0⁰C at 15:22 and now back down to 7.7⁰C, humidity is 81%, wind is 6 to 18mph westerly with a maximum gust of 24mph (easterly) at 14:59, pressure is 976.5hPa rising slowly from a low of 975.4hPa at 14:37, there’s been 14.0mm of rainfall today and 17.6mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is a heavy 8/8 and the dew point is at 4⁰C, despite which Diablo is showing a snowflake symbol, thus ensuring 1cm of slush here while the rest of the country collects a foot of snow.

Fabulous photies @SW Saltire, oh, and everybody else obviously; no winners or losers here....
A lightly overcast morning gave way to clear blue sky around lunchtime, which stuck about until mid-afternoon and now slowly filling in again. Main point of interest though was the minimum overnight temperature, which at -4.2⁰C was the lowest of the season so far but unremarkable for winter.
Low temperature of -4.2⁰C at 03:50 rose to a high of 6.6⁰C at 14:34 and now back down to 4.9⁰C, humidity is 80%, wind is 2 to 8mph southerly with a maximum gust of 13mph at 15:31, pressure is 1023.2hPa dropping like a stone from 1028.1hPa at 08:44, there’s been 0.2mm of rainfall today and in the last 24 hours, cloud cover is a thin 7/8 and the dew point is at 2⁰C.

Urgh. Wet wet wet snow. There's a joke in there somewhere.
Woke up to a wet dusting. Not counting a snow day though - too patchy. At 300m it's a winter wonderland with frosted pine trees. Got down to 0.6C back up to 1.6C now - so not the wintryest spell of the season as billed... Pffft.
Is that a euphemism? Or youff emission even?
The weather yesterday was dominated by wintry showers passing through what was otherwise a decent winter’s day so that we experienced four seasons in each hour, never mind day. No depth of snow on the ground though. This morning was similar with sunshine and showers but this settled down to almost unbroken sunshine this afternoon, which made for a very decent day indeed. The one constant has been the wind, which hasn’t really stopped since the double storm passed through, and which has had the trees behind my house engaged in a never-ending disco marathon ever since.
The temperature today has risen from a low of 0.8⁰C at 01:57 to a high of 5.6⁰ at 13:44 and back down to 2.7⁰C now, humidity dropped from 92% at 02:21 to 81% at 11:57 and now 84%, wind has finally dropped to 1mph west-northwesterly following a maximum gust of 20mph at 09:22, pressure is 1019.8hPa rocketing upwards, there’s been 5.8mm of rain in the early morning and 7.8mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover has reduced from 3/8 to 0/8 throughout the day and the dew point I now at 0⁰C.

A week ago I ran out of puff again and got confined to bed for my trouble. I also got a nurse who comes in the morning to take various statistics such as blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, blood oxygen saturation, and how blue my extremities are. One downside of this state of affairs is that I hadn’t seen the stats on my weather station for quite a while, but my guess was the readings for the past week’s weather were as rubbish as those my nurse was taking. However, a couple of pals came round on Saturday and got me up to watch the rugby over a few beers. They returned on Sunday for a repeat performance. Turns out that my blood oxygen level isn’t as critical to my health as my blood alcohol level, which, in it’s elevated state, has brought about a welcome improvement in my general feeling of wellbeing. So today I got up and have been wandering about the house, albeit slowly, but free from recent anticipation of imminent collapse; which is good. I can now report as follows.
Today was cool but not cold, wet but not a wash out, sunny but only in parts and breezy but not stormy. High temperature was 8.5⁰C at midnight with a low of 5.1⁰C at 07:58 and now 6.6⁰C, humidity dropped from 94% at midnight to 80% at 13:56 and now 86%, wind has been 4 to 12mph southwesterly with a maximum gust of 17mph at 11:21, pressure rose from 1013.7hPa at midnight to 1017.4hPa at 12:09 and now 1014.6hPa steady, there’s been 5.2mm of rainfall today and 9.6mm in the last 24 hours, cloud cover has been 2/8 to 6/8 and the dew point is at 4⁰C.
And now I'm off for a medicinal dram. I wish you all a good night.

My day started dramatically at 07:45 with a very Wagnerian thunder hail storm that lasted for fifteen minutes and clearly anticipated the end of the world; except that it didn’t. What transpired was a morning smorgasbord of wintry precipitation including hail, heavy wet snow, graupel, sleet and light wet snow, all of which arrives, covers the ground for ten minutes and then disappears again. However, as the precipitation arrives every twenty minutes or so, we’ve had a half-white Friday up until now, which at least feels like weather. Also, I’ve declared a ‘Cold Day’ and switched the heating up to 2.

Yes, I was near to tears myself, but were the BBC interested? No. And my bird feeding stations were blown over twice! Both Malik and Corrie. How many trees can claim that, eh?

Today started off dry, sunny, cold and calm but then became overcast, probably just out of habit.
High temperature today was 7.4⁰C at 13:33 up from the low of 1.8⁰C at 03:58 and now 7.0⁰C, humidity rose from 74% at 06:03 to 94% at 20:17 and still now, wind is 6 to 12mph south-southwesterly with a maximum gust of 18mph at 02:49, pressure currently 1013.6hPa and dropping like stone, there’s been 3.4mm of rainfall today and 3.6mm in the last 24 hours, clous cover is 8/8 and the dew point is at 6⁰C.
Figures for January 2022 are:-
Highs – temperature 13.2⁰C, humidity 96%, wind 25mph, pressure 1038.6hPa, total rainfall 61.6mm.
Lows – temperature -3.4⁰C, humidity 72%, pressure 987.1hPa, dew point -5⁰C.
