  1. Yep also been watching out the window at the few flashes towards Nottingham from here in Belper.. strong wind gusts too at my elevated position. Most exitingly though the power just went out for a large area toward Nottingham, Perhaps Eastwood, as all the light pollution for a large swathe of the horizon in that direction diappeared all at once!
  2. Meanwhile Ireland continues to have more storms than the African monsoon season.. Just now to the East of Loch Neagh is what looks pretty clearly to me a right moving supercell on radar.
  3. Had a relatively successful chase up to the Yorkshire wolds ending up near Bridlington. As others have said not much visible lightning mostly just flashes but a couple of cgs. Also saw the roll cloud that @Aiden2012 posted earlier, I think this must have been associated with the cold front passage as it coincided with the renewed activity on the southern end of the storms. Just as I thought the day was done new cells fired all around and I'm certain a couple were briefly LP supercells, there was a CG from a fairly innocuous looking cloud that didn't appear to have much precip from it at all. Ended up getting in front of that last big cell near Bridlington. Overall successful but perhaps not entirely satisfying First storm taken near M18/M180 junction LP supercell, it perhaps just a very organised linear cell?! I know it doesn't look it but there was a CG from this in the right hand side of the image, very separate updraft and downdraft Tail end cell as it was approaching driffield. Taken from the north. Would have loved to have been to the SE of it seeing that radar animation of it splitting. Storms had been racing north from me all afternoon so I thought I was right in its path untill it sent it straight east Finally a lone sheared updraft, can't recall ever seeing things like this in the UK, there were a few around today!
  4. Just drove home from Milton Keynes way, temps up to 31 according to car. At home now having lunch before heading out. About 28 here and well ahead of the CF but some of the bubbling cumulus is actually getting a bit big here, might have to see what it does rather than heading off up the motorway immediately! Edit to add not very good pic:
  5. Leicester cell anvil looking beefy from here. Hopefully something else will develop here this eve though it doesn't look hopeful atm.
  6. Skies looked unstable this morning in Derbyshire, now cleared to blue and hotting up
  7. Pretty cool shelf looking down Matlock way Derbyshire
  8. Brother sent me this from Stroud https://community.netweather.tv/gallery/image/24988-vid-20230612-wa0016mp4/?context=new
  9. Looks like a lot of development on the northern side of Nottingham for those worried they may just be too far north...
  10. Can hear frequent rumbles from the little blob over derby, meanwhile the main beast about to paste Nottingham is approaching
  11. My best ever chase! Drove from Derbyshire to Dorset in plenty of time and got the following photo. Thought it was all over come about midnight but storms fired over London way (much further east than orginally forecast) and turned into a huge line (mcs?) accross the midlands that I followed just behind most of the way back north, watching probably the best lightning I've ever seen!
  12. This webcam showing very active storm atm, couple cgs seen. Shame the quality is low! https://youtu.be/IyCuNtseVIo?list=PLfAo-TbDuqwoTB-7F8OWBmszxGEM97GMo
  13. Watched the 'storm' at its peak coming over Derby/Belper from Alport Heights. One flash perceived from the edges of vision and a few weak rumbles. Looked pretty cool for a bit though looking south towards the 'hook' area, even did a kind of tiny wallcloud feature feels more humid after this now. Gl to us all for tonight and this week
  14. Looking towards Derby from the NW. Looks good in the pic but nothing doing yet. Hoping it peps up a bit but not holding my breath!
