  1. Same - pokey hail shower too here - much more impressive than it looks on the radar
  2. a few flakes here amongst the rain/hail mix dropped from 10 to 5 in the shower and 4c at top of t’hill
  3. feb1991blizzard this will verify as I fly to Edinburgh that day (in theory)
  4. Crazy mild and humid again. just done some emergency work on the little brook next to our garden as last night’s rain managed to overflow a culvert and created a mini tributary across very edge of our grass and back into the ditch via a new wee sinkhole (literally looks like a plug hole)
  5. Had lunch outside in a t shirt. Madness. Had the occasional day like this in February in the past, but there’s a pattern here somewhere…
  6. No card here but ******* **** **** and ******** ****** *********! (first time ever!) Literally just made that up with some stars but it should keep beka guessing
  7. from the less well-known “st Coolio flying from LHR” model: - has only occurred three times in the last decade - but each time resulted in disruptive snowfall and a long delay for de-icing - flights booked for 7-10 March this year - snow inevitable - place your bets. Free money.
  8. 28c in Valencia today according to the BBC news £30 return flights right now for ibiza… tempting (Was hoping to post image of forecast but it’s stuck on “loading” —- it looks nice )
  9. would double like this if it were possible some sort of simplification that doesn't directly combine risk and impact but instead describes the two things simultaneously in the communication to the public
  10. Looks like fr509 eventually got down at Belfast international on north south runway. That’d have been a nasty one.
  11. Exactly what happened to me in storm ulli, same kind of storm too
  12. Looks like that Ryanair bristol-Dublin flight is going to end up in Scotland somewhere edit: or trying Belfast, wouldn’t fancy that myself
  13. Yeh this is what I was posting about earlier though our pilot decided to plonk us down. That was right at the start of jan 2012, when they put the warnings up to red really really late and the metoffice got absolutely slated for it
  14. Can’t post the image but be thankful you’re not on FR509 bristol to Dublin. circled for ages then a go around.
  15. Think the storm had already moved into Southampton. lashing it down now in the test valley. For some reason, I wasn’t expecting such heavy rain. Probably wasn’t paying attention.
  16. I once had a prop plane flight Southampton to Dublin, circled around above the Irish Sea for 30 mins waiting to see if the winds over the airfield dropped enough to within tolerances. Eventually the pilot told us we were going in anyway as the option of returning to bristol, cardiff, whatever was no longer viable because of winds increasing there. so we plopped down onto the runway, perfect landing, hardly a bump… but couldn’t get onto the stand and when we got off via the steps you could hardly stand up in the strength of the wind. I talked to the crew and apparently the wind had veered a bit so it was less of a crosswind, otherwise we’d been off to amsterdam or Newcastle or something.
