  1. A mixture of sleet and snow so far. The hills are taking a fair hammering at present. Snowline has dropped since early afternoon.
  2. Stunning day with wall to wall sunshine. The Met are going with something quite different
  3. Snowing over the local hills, photo looking onto Cairn William, 450 mts asl, North facing side.Snowline seems to be around the 300 meter mark. Temperature currently 1.5c on the car display. Roads are very wet, could be tricky tomorrow. Second photo shows current conditions over at the Lecht. Home early today to get a replacement windscreen and the winter alloys/tyres fitted. Heavy snow forecast around 3pm, the Autoglass fitter won't be best pleased.
  4. At least five ice days in a row starting Wednesday for Aviemore, if the forecast holds.
  5. A rather subdued vibe in the mod thread today. However, the south of Englands loss might be good for us Northerners.
  6. I'd go for B. I've seen enough snow to last a lifetime.
  7. Having problems loading pages today. Site is running super slow.
  8. A dry, cloudy, and cold start to the day, car display currently showing -1.5c. The latest Met Office daily forecast is worth checking out for next week. A 12 hour period of snow Thursday evening into Friday morning around these parts. On the way to the shops, I noticed a council gritter fueling at the local Shell station. As I drew alongside, the gritter had It's snow blade fitted. Perhaps a good omen.....
  9. Sounds about right, where precipitation does fall, for the vast majority it will be rain. All subject to change of course.
  10. Thursday 30 Nov - Saturday 9 Dec Outbreaks of rain and some hill snow are likely to spread across parts of England and Wales during Thursday. This could be heavy and prolonged in places, before it begins to fade and clear away again to the south during Friday. Further north, a mixture of sunny spells and wintry showers on Thursday and Friday, the showers most frequent near coasts. Over the weekend and into the following week, cold conditions and northerly winds are expected across the bulk of the UK. Showers will develop, these a mixture of rain, sleet and, at times, snow, with the most frequent showers across coastal districts in the north and east. Some inland areas, especially in the south, could be mainly dry and bright. Updated: 14:00 (UTC) on Suspect this won't be far off the mark.
  11. Here's how the neighbourhood looks with the white stuff. Photos from 2020/21.
  12. Evidence of Snowfall on the commute this morning. Car windscreen had a slushy deposit first thing. Temperatures around 2.5c according to the car display.
  13. Wintrac 4 extreme, shipped from Germany, £200 cheaper than the best price I could find in the UK. How does that work Anyway, hopefully get a chance to try them out soon.
  14. The latest Met Office LRF for 28th Nov to 8th Dec is worth a read. Think it's time to stick the winter tyres on.
  15. Very windy and mild start to the day at 11.5c. My weekend job of clearing the leaves from the roof valleys and gutters has been completed thanks to last night's winds. Light snow in the forecast for later on today and tomorrow morning. Not quite 1947/1963 being kicked around on the another thread.
  16. It's cigars and champagne all round in the MOD thread tonight. What could possibly go wrong
  17. If it wasn't for artificial snow making, I suspect a couple would have stopped offering snow sports.
  18. Yesterday's update from the Met - Standard fare for late November. Thursday 23 Nov - Saturday 2 Dec The early part of this period is likely to see a north-south split in weather conditions, with southern parts of the UK drier than of late with some sunny spells, while northern areas, particularly western Scotland, see more in the way of cloud, rain and wind. Within this overall pattern, there may well be incursions of colder air at times, especially across north and northeast UK, with wintry showers and overnight frost. It's uncertain just when such cold spells will occur and how extensive they will be, and it may be that this happens more than once with periods of milder, wetter weather in between. Towards the second weekend, it's most likely to become more generally changeable, with a lower chance of more settled conditions persisting across the south. Updated: 14:00 (UTC) on Sat 18 Nov 2023
