Model Output Discussion - Deeper into Autumn
Crackerjack replied to BlueHedgehog074's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
That’s a really nice thing to say mate, and it applies to us all ‘as long as we are feeling happy’ that’s what we all need. I’m happy tonight because I’ve popped in as usual and there was 7+ replies to read since my last visit less than an hour ago. I love it when it’s starting to buzz with anticipation in here and hopefully we will have lots of opportunities to do so this winter. nice looking day 10 charts there, just need to cool down now and get more seasonal. im in my 50’s but love this thread when winter comes like a kid at Xmas have a great evening all the regulars and newbies alike. -
Yes I was delivering cakes of all things in my car today and had a delivery in Portishead around 11.30am. The car temp said 29c leaving Clifton but 26c at my delivery point and it felt fresher there too, the channel making the difference I guess. Though in my car it felt like -2c as the air con was working hard to keep the cakes cool

Love your garden mate I’m having mine remodelled early March with Easygrass and new fencing so wasn’t overly concerned today when I lost one of the old panels -

Exactly first death just announced. Some of the people on here are either trolling or trying to get reactions -

Make sure your insurance for the home is close at hand just incase you need it and if you do take loads of pictures (I used to work in insurance many many years ago) hopefully you won’t need it though. I’ve also got an emergency box of things like matches and candles incase the power goes out and obviously put away anything in the garden that can likely be a misile in strong winds. Then sit back watch nature at its most fearsome (for UK anyhow) and be in awe of its power. Hope that helps. -

Cobra are meeting regularly at the moment with the things going on in Ukraine so another impending disaster on the agenda might as well be talked about ? -
Model discussion: Hunt for cold - into February

Thanks for your short weather model summaries Anthony as I don’t always have time to sift through pages (not lately granted) so a short summary well written is spot on. Good work -

We also need to be aware that there is a high chance if this comes off someone going about there day on Friday won’t be with us by the end of the storm. It doesn’t have to be a house falling down it can be debris or more likely a tree coming down as happened near to where I live recently where a mum and her teenage daughter died when a tree landed on their car -

That looks good for me I’m guessing @Ali1977 I’m up in Inverness Monday 7th - 11th Feb for my snow fix and I’m getting worried even Cairngorms at this rate would be bare Any NW like that would have bite this year we just have to get it into the reliable time frame. That PV looks really angry this year. -

The software used looks very much like our site so it’s very easy on the eye. mind you if you think our Model output thread gets tense and bitter sometimes it’s really tame up to this lot OMG -
Winter 2021-22 Chat, Moans and ramps thread

Meanwhile I’m depressing myself reading the New England thread on the USA’s equivalent to Netweather rack up pages every few minutes with the Buzz about the massive Nor’easter this weekend some throwing toys out the pram because they have been downgraded to only 10” of snow from 20” yesterday ? On the other hand some are now expecting 47” close to Boston MA im off to Inverness Feb 7th for my winter fix of snow so im praying some of our latest models are on the money if only for the Ski areas so I might at least get some pictures. I assume Highlands will do well won’t they in a PM ? Or maybe Fort william even better. -

I thought all the charts last week were showing the purple blob moving all to the east by now? I assume that didn’t happen and going by that forecast it’s all to the left -

They did indeed and a lock in by the looks of it. -
Happy Retirement Michael, you are indeed up there with the best mate. I remember so many of my most favourite forecasts were delivered by you in your usual professional style and I’ve still got my set of fridge magnets on my door in the kitchen with you looking at me everyday, with of course a cloud symbol and 3 snowflakes I wish you all the best to you and your family Dave & My family.

I second that sheikhy, but I do love an occasional poor run as it’s so much less catch up reading for me as all the people on my ‘ignore list’ rise to the surface here’s to a snowy Xmas holiday period Be that at the start or end of the holidays. Let’s get the cold in first as they say -

You called Matt ‘Crackerjack’ here I’m of the age Matt I remember the late 70’s & 80’s and we had some great East/West battles and so it’s with no suprise to me to see the models struggling with that cold wall to the East. The latest GFS showing even that model is thinking about it again Im not sure if we have had less battles these past 20yrs or so or if it’s a memory thing but this year feels different and has done all year. We will see in the fullness of time. Maybe some wintry surprises this weekend again even here in the south on high ground at least. -
