One of my cats just demanded to go out...he got two steps out on the packed bit outside the door, took a step on the soft stuff and turned straight round!!!
No snow here for the past 90 minutes or more....waiting for the next bit predicted by nw radar....

I thought there might be something like that about selling it. Didn't realise it extended to giving it away. I thought I heard of a farm that had some sort of fridge outside where people could come and take raw milk, at their own risk, and in their own containers. I can't remember all the details but it got round the letter of the law....probably been stopped by now though, it was several years ago.
I hope the lorry gets to you in the morning....

Anyone listening to The Now Show? Apparently the forecasters were warning of snowmageddon all last week. First I heard was Tuesday this week....<shrug> that might just be that Radios 4, Wales and Bristol weren't panicking!! Does dim teledu gyda fi / I don't have a tv...

It seems the front has now moved onto mid Wales and the Midlands.
Is that it now, snow wise for the SE Wales crew? The forecast this morning talked of snow into the eve and night? Has this now changed? Cheers
And the 10 day forecast has changed from no snow in /brum next week to 40% ish Wed and Thurs. Bother...I'm supposed to be working up there next week!

Here too - the laurels (it's a shrubbery! Ni!) are holding snow on their leavesI hope the bids find somewhere to hunker down...I have an untidy garden so there are places they can get out of the snow.

v7 radar saying nothing but fine snow falling and blowing about, making the outside look like somewhere in Siberia, with the little swirls of snow darting here and there. been sleeping with the blinds open, and when I woke i thought it was drizzling, that's how fine the snow is
icicles hanging from the front of my van
Please tell me you're not sleeping in your van....

Another being I genuinely don’t know how to eat a bobble hat .
How about making a bobble hat shaped cake and ...sorry... icing it?

Yep .... 3000 litres of your finest organic milk destined for Calon Wen ☹️
No way you can sell/give it to anyone locally?....or are you as unable to get out as the milk lorry to get in? Doesn't help the bank balance, but less of a waste.
Alternatively, put it outside and make milk ice lollies Sorry, I know it's not a laughing situation.

Just seen the wren outside, so dug around the cupboards and found some sultanas and linseed. Hope she, and the others are brave enough to come back before the bits are all buried....

Less than one hour ... still falling and covered at least 3 inches
Looks like the place was built to cope, with that staircase to the upper storey. Hope you and the animals are safe.

It is .. also helps to see what precip type is coming in on the one map, as the forecast for "less frigid" air pushes in to the south with the chance of snow precip turning to freezing rain. Still does n't explain why Anglesey is sat under darker shades of pink and nothing failing from the sky .. as of yet ....?
Thank you - I appreciate the help. It seems to be reasonably accurate here - we've gone from steady fall of big flakes to very fine stuff at 1500 as the "no ppn" hole heads to us on the 1450 chart.

Properly snowing in Newport too...larger flakes plus some grains blown off the roof. At least another inch down. My neighbour was clearing the road and pavement outside his with a rake....so I popped out to lend him my snow shovel and he cleared my drive entrance too! All that's covered over again.

Try the "weather type" button changes the animation to snowfall rate
Is that the shades of pink plot? Thanks.

Quite heavy here now, bigger flakes than what we've had, starting to cover the bare patches as well...
Here in Newport too - and some gustyt winds. According to nw radar, we're only in he dark blue - what's it like under the green/yellow?

First post here. Report from Penarth, many 1m drifts no problem we will be looking at an average of 1’ snow depth with drifts of 5 - 6 ‘. What it’s like north of here, Pontypridd etc I can only imagine.
i can remember 1982, I was 8 and my dad woke me up and said look out of the window -it was all snow, 7’ drift against the house. Those scenes and memories will be repeated tomorrow and Saturday.
It it is absolutely chucking it down, tiny icy flakes. Utterly spellbinding and beautiful when the light catches it\.
birds are being well fed, if I had the room I would take in humans without roofs. I have distributed cash, food and cannabis across the city centre today and yesterday.
good luck everyone.
Wow - last time I looked - about the time you posted - Penarth had clear skies according to the radar.
Newport managed another 2" overnight, plus ice patches on my drive (nearly measured my length) I have icicles hanging from my cornices...one has grown about 6" in the last 2 hours...must photograph it. [long pause for lunch and photo session] It's nearly 600mm long!
Just had a thrush and two robins fly into the garden. I've no food for them...seems wrong to attract birds to the garden when I have 6 cats and next door has 5.

I disagree here. Watch how precipitation seemingly just pops up as colder air fights back
Radar has taken Newport from pale to dark blue - and snow has restarted, heavy and swirling. Icicle has stopped dripping....

how much snow did newport get ?
North of the M4 I got 7" level in sheltered back garden, out front the wind has sculpted from 0 to 3ft drifts. There has been some ground melt on my very sheltered drive - huge lump of ice under the snow. It is also sculpted
Just heard an eJet from Alicante has landed at Bristol Airport but "nothing moving in Wales" on R4

Back in - less of a walk than a quick pop outside. My nice sheltered back garden is very deceiving - it's blowin' a hoolie out there and we have 3 ft drifts in some places - amazing wind sculptures. There's a dipole shape of clear road next to 3" drift topping the kerb. The sculpture on top of my car is impressive. Sitting with back door open and cats debating on venturing out! I think discretion will win. Lots of snow, a little bigger than earlier but still quite dry.
The creaking as the snow slides slowly down the roof is peculiar - like sitting under a glacier - in miniature.
Oooh - one of the cats braved it...he's just come back in.

And you're just about under a yellow.
The snow is sliding off my conservatory roof in great clumps at the moment...startling! Going out for a walk.
What's falling are the cornices...and I can see the pressure lines in the snow further up the roof. Cats declining to go out!

Hmmm, a fast thaw would raise the chances of flooding - let's hope the temperatures are low enough to give a slow thaw
