  1. Something a little heavier (than snizzle) falling in Ashingdon area now. Looks like the band that was up at Clacton area, extending SW
  2. Second car came over the top of hill too fast, completely unprepared for the possibility of having to stop...
  3. New showers developing off of southend? Very windy and constant light snow blowing in here now.
  4. So was this storm Emma or is storm Emma the system forming up to hit the SW later today?
  5. Yep. All momentum lost the moment it reaches the coast. There is no wind to speak off really at present.
  6. Does seem to have more of a west drift to it now but will it all fizzle out as soon as it touches land again?
  7. Might need to get to the end of the pier to see it. Not sure it's got Southend in its sights..
  8. 2-3 cm in Rochford area. A tiny amount added to from last nights first proper fall. Hoped for more from Amber warning area but hardly a breath of wind here. Schools open as normal.
  9. Forecast is always lagged to previous models which were showing milder air.
  10. Look at Saturdays new warnings: https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings#?date=2018-03-02
  11. When are apps ever correct? Useful for a rough guide, not detail. Sleet in these temps....
  12. Southend area folk in this thread or the other? Almost touching distance to north kent but different thread..
  13. Think it's more a case of showers reaching you. Nothing to do with temps or coastal areas. It can be cold enough for snow and it doesn't snow - You still need the showers.

  15. Taken from Met Office site: What the colours mean Yellow: Severe weather is possible over the next few days and could affect you. Yellow means that you should plan ahead thinking about possible travel delays, or the disruption of your day to day activities. The Met Office is monitoring the developing weather situation and Yellow means keep an eye on the latest forecast and be aware that the weather may change or worsen, leading to disruption of your plans in the next few days. Amber: There is an increased likelihood of bad weather affecting you, which could potentially disrupt your plans and possibly cause travel delays, road and rail closures, interruption to power and the potential risk to life and property. Amber means you need to be prepared to change your plans and protect you, your family and community from the impacts of the severe weather based on the forecast from the Met Office Red: Extreme weather is expected. Red means you should take action now to keep yourself and others safe from the impact of the weather. Widespread damage, travel and power disruption and risk to life is likely. You must avoid dangerous areas and follow the advice of the emergency services and local authorities.
  16. Would love to know when and what guidance Met Office have sent to local authorities etc about this spell. Anyone in a position to share what information they have been issued with as it might give us a little more insight into Met office thinking.
  17. Snow flurries for SE from Sunday pm Steve? When do you expect first notable snow for SE?

  19. What chart is showing patchy sleet? Nothing marginal about temps.
