Yep that’s the views I was seeing. I don’t think any photos could have done any justice. You had to be there and see with your own eyes.

Had a job today in Workington on the Cumbrian coast. Got past the Lancaster- Morecambe junction on the M6 and the snow covered fells came into view. All the way to junction 40 Penrith, the views were stunning. Still a fair bit of snow on the ground just north of Keswick and the Temp in my van was saying -4.5 at 10:30 am. Got to sub-Tropical Workington, no sign of any frost and a temp of 3c.
we really do have some stunning beauty on our doorsteps in the North West.
Just wish I could have took some photos.- 9

Now starting to become moderate. Big flakes, not a good sign. Got a feeling this is going to turn to rain

Yeah it can happen like that. Just depends where the heavier bands sit, sometimes elevation isn't the be all end all.
Yep. Preston proved that today

To be fair there must of been quite a but of snow that fell where I live as nearly every garden has a decent sized snowman. While it was snowing I was in the city centre working, there was a covering but not that much so probably a decent event here. There has be a slight thaw and its turning into a slushy mess, but there's still a good covering in places.
I've not had a chance to look at the charts yet, and I can't be bothered going I the mod thread. Is there anything in the charts regarding another cold spell
Yes at T+300
Booom charts lol.
I’m not looking past T+96 anymore, sick of Booom charts that get watered down at T+24- 6

Not quite sure, certainly feels like it
Yes it does certainly feel cold, current dp is -1 the precipitation is just to the north of me around the Preston area. The Met app (yes I know just computer generated) has now removed the rain to sleet. I think some surprises could be had later during the night.

Looking at the Radar, does the blob to the NW look like its on a heading further South than forecast?
Yes it does. I looked at the met radar last night and it was showing it to be in Northern Ireland and south west Scotland. This morning it’s not even touching South West Scotland.

Unbelievable and embarrassing!!!
"Fairly dry and bright however one or two showers across the north of the region..."
Graphics, dry across the south when the whole are is under snow!
Absolute joke

Can’t see any gritters out and the B6226 Horwich to Bolton road has not been touched and it’s got a good covering

lol bear in mind that altitude won’t make much of a difference later in the week. More important will be the wind direction and shower distribution .
I have to say it’s nice to see the UKV with such an upgrade for Thursday. Clear now why the MetO have gone for that warning. Nothing spectacular but beggars can’t be choosers.
A west north westerly will greatly benefit Greater Manchester. a direct North westerly and we are getting the scraps.

15z UKV has snow showers moving through the region Tuesday morning , nothing spectacular though . A light covering in Merseyside, Greater Manchester, South Lancs and parts of Cumbria, no more than a few cm.
The trough doesn’t give much to the NW at all, maybe some snow in Cumbria but it dies a death as it moves south, also risk of rain in the Carlisle area.
Mainly dry Wednesday but some Cheshire gap showers breaking out . Becoming more widespread overnight into Thursday and Thursday night. A covering just about everywhere except the immediate coast.
Hmmm according to that, I’m getting 2cm whilst Wigan 150m lower Is getting 4cm.. one for the Bin !

And it's pretty much best type of weather to deliver any snow to us. But, it is Manchester and has always, and will always be marginal
Trouble with Manchester is it’s only 30-50 meters above sea level: travel 14 miles North west or 14 miles North East or North of Manchester and it raises to 200 -350 meters above sea level. That is that problem with Manchester being marginal .

Anyway enough of this will it won’t search for a flake of snow in winter.
We’ve just booked two weeks holiday and for the first time ever, will be heading east beyond the Med so although it’s not until late September, Thailand and a few days in Dubai on the way home here we come.
can’t wait
Bangkok for a couple of nights is a must. Head to sukhumvit soi 4 and soi cowboy ( where the hangover 2 was filmed) street food is very cheap and delicious. Avoid the main restaurants as they up the price for foreigners.
pattaya is ok but full of single blokes on the pull lol.
if you can, go see the real Thailand in the north where my Mrs is from. You can live like a king, beer and food is very cheap and hotels you pay next to nothing. Another 5-8 years and I’ll be there for good..the last photo is my in-laws house
