  1. Scorching sun for me, in fact any day with temps above 25c. You can't really do much about being too warm, it's much easier to heat up than cool down for me anyway.
  2. Couple of flakes blowing around in the breeze here but not heavy enough for any accumulations at the moment.
  3. Surprised there's no yellow for wind in the central belt tonight. Seems to be quite isolated to just central Scotland with gusts quite frequently in the 45-55mph range. We've had a yellow warning for lower wind speeds already this year.
  4. I think most Atlantic storms form in a similar way really. Big temp difference fire's up the jet and makes any lp's more potent. Where they undergo strengthening and weakening really depends where the jet takes them although much like hurricanes they almost always start weakening quickly when they're over land.
  5. Wasn't too bad in the central belt at least compared to the last two storms. 40 - 50mph winds and a lot of rain but nothing severe.
  6. Good thing that one didn't take the same track as recent storms. 80-110mph would've brought widespread damage, it would've been one of the most severe storms to hit the UK in decades if it had been a few hundred miles south.
  7. Yellow wind warning for the central belt, seems a bit excessive looking at the forecast.
  8. 45-55mph for the most part here although it did get up to around 60mph at times between 2 - 3:30am. Not as strong or long lasting as Isha up here.
  9. Fence panel which I just repaired yesterday is now flapping again. Gusts into the low 50s at times but still mostly in the 40s.
  10. Definitely picking up a bit now with gusts to around 50mph. Almost identical timing to Isha in terms of when the stronger winds arrived.
  11. Gusting into the 40s quite frequently now but nothing particularly severe so far. 1am - 3am for peak gusts by the looks of it.
  12. It has been raining heavily for about 2 hrs now and it's supposed to continue for another 3-4 hrs before turning to heavy showers so I'd expect some flooding. Breezy too but it doesn't look like it'll be as strong as Isha.
  13. Seems to be a bit of uncertainty on this one still. Gfs has weakened it a bit and looks to have peak inland gusts no higher than 60mph but the ukv has 70mph gusts in parts of the central belt again around 1-2am on weds.
  14. It certainly looks the part but I'm guessing it's expected to weaken as it approaches us. Isha didn't really weaken much until it had already reached the UK.
  15. Was there actually a sting jet? If anywhere did experience it they would've noticed as it briefly increases max gusts by 20-30mph. The wind has finally died down to just a light breeze here after a few heavy, blustery hail showers. Almost 24 hrs of gale force gusts, I don't remember that happening any time in recent years. Glasgow and Edinburgh both recorded their highest gusts since 2013.
  16. Lots of fences down and Quite a few branches lying about, wouldn't like to be parked under a tree in that. It seems to have been just the right speed to cause a lot of minor damage but not much serious damage to roofs etc.
  17. I feel like it's a bit of both. If people are misunderstanding the warning system then maybe it should be made simpler. It should absolutely be tidied up a bit when there are multiple warnings as it just looks a mess and you can't even click on individual warnings now.
  18. This has been downgraded a bit on recent runs, at least for inland areas. At one point it looked like being worse than Isha for Scotland. It's now at 50 - 60mph inland and maybe 70mph in the Amber areas, mostly around the coasts. Probably more like a typical winter storm although potentially a bit more damaging given its only 2 days after a stronger storm.
  19. Still gusting into the 40s here at the moment, if it continues until 3pm that'll be 24 consecutive hrs where max gusts never dropped below 40mph. People can only really describe how a storm, snow event etc was in their area and how it affected them. Personally I don't have any problem with people saying it wasn't that bad for them or in their area. It's much more annoying when people question how bad it was in someone else's area or suggest it was worse or better than they said.
  20. It was the longevity more than anything else that made it a notable storm here. 10 hrs of 50mph + gusts between 5pm and 3am and 60mph + between around 9:30pm and 1am. The peak gusts were around 70mph but never quite made it into the 70s where I am so it wasn't one of the most severe storms I've seen but it was still a step up from a typical winter gale.
  21. I was wondering about that too but haven't seen it mentioned since this afternoon.
  22. First fence panel down, or at least halfway down as it's still attached to a post at one side. Gusts seem to be peaking in the 60s here, haven't quite made it to 70mph although it looks like a few places in the central belt have.
  23. Getting quite blowy... gusting into the 60s frequently, trees flapping about a fair bit and a constant roaring sound accompied by the odd crash as bins go flying.
