  1. Yeah, but I don’t compare to other countries. I usually make comparisons with our own weather in years gone by. I never going to bother or care about what the weather was like in Germany during February 1991. -5c is probably nothing spectacular over there in a number of winters, but for us, February 91 stood out at the time. It’s all relative, depending what you are used to.
  2. I would go with 2005 out of all of those. I’m recent times, I would say 2013 was more of an acceptable British summer, with a hot month, but also some cooler periods. I agree. This summer will go down as poor. For July to fail a 27-30c period is quite noticeable, and August failed to reach 30c as well
  3. Bank holiday in 2021 was worse than this. It was cold and dull with London maxes of 15-16c. And that was on the back of a very poor August. August 23 has been poor, but to be fair we’ve managed to have some nice warm sunny days since the second half. Nothing hot, just a few very warm and sunny days, and finally more people have seen some storms. Not all granted.
  4. It was quite a hefty storm, and there was another one behind that.
  5. But January 87 was freezing cold. The previous cold summer probably helped achieve a snowy winter period.
  6. Once we start maxing out at 18-19c during the day, the windows are going to be closed in the evening. Won’t be long before the heating is needed to warm the flat up. It has stayed warm in the flat since June, but just a few days of below 20c will reintroduce the chill into the flat. Back into the joggers instead of shorts indoors also.
  7. A marked changed in temp today even compared to yesterday. Think the storms of the last few days have cleared the air up. Only reaching 20c in London today. Was 21-22c yesterday, so that 1 degree can make the difference. One more week left of summer, so it does feel we are knocking on the door of Autumn soon.
  8. 5c or below is ok when it’s clear and sunny. It’s not so great when those temps are accompanied by cloudy and grey conditions. It just makes it feel that much colder.
  9. Oh ok. I’m a bit rusty when it comes to that neck of the woods, but I was talking about the western or central med.
  10. It’s definitely somewhere I would like to explore. I would rather have a break from Med countries for a year or two, but not knocking them. Italy, Spain and Greece all have something to offer, and every country has variety if you take time to look.
  11. Well it was kind of tea to take away, and enjoy while in the park, but then I had to dash back to the tea room, as the storms rolled in. It was a typical distant booming sound for 30 minutes, but the storms did move into properly and I had to take shelter. Which in turn meant buying another cuppa lol.
  12. Or lack of dross for those sipping beers by a lake in Slovenia My Highgate tea tasted ok though, during the thunderstorms earlier.
  13. Yeah I know. You haven’t had one since 2019. I don’t remember getting anything during 2019, apart from some rumbles the morning after that really hot day in July.
  14. It’s been quite an active period for thundery weather in many areas, but on different days. Maybe Andover will get a storm in the next few days.
  15. I’ll have the heating on from whenever the daytime high drops to 16c or below. It then stays on until we exceed 16c. I don’t go with this ‘I’m not putting heating on until November’. If I feel cold, I’ll put the heating on. Late September is when I usually start to need it again, then we start using the heating properly as we move into mid October. I would love to move to Munich. It’s far south enough to enjoy hot summers, with also some severe summer storms, but also close enough to the alps for snowfall and far away enough from the influence of the Atlantic.
  16. It’s weird how some areas just miss everything. Very strange.
  17. Yeah, but December 2010 was lovely and seasonal. It was however, brutally cold.
  18. Definitely made up for the lack of storms this summer. Quite a notable set of storms. Won’t forget the late bank holiday Saturday this year lol. I noticed some fork lightning up in north London this afternoon.
  19. I wasn’t able to load these earlier because of the storm and the weak Wi-Fi in the tea shop/cafe. A good couple of storms this afternoon, moved in without any warning. IMG_5047.mov IMG_5048.mov IMG_5049.mov IMG_5051.mov 888D4182-282B-45E2-94C3-ADE590B29BA7.mp4
  20. London got hit by some storms after 2:30 this afternoon. Think we had a second one around 4ish. I filmed some of it, but it’s been a bugger to load the videos lol. Sounds like these storms are quite widespread today. Definitely the best storm I’ve seen for a number of years in London.
