  1. Heres hoping!! I will settle for a few flashes visible over the Channel after dark..Will be interesting to see how things develop over Northern France
  2. So infuriating. In future when the TV forecasts are put out stating thunder risk from France I think I will ignore them..They cover themselves by using language implying the risk is there but their graphics showing lightning flashing away over the South Coast gets our juices flowing only to have it taken away..Im only going to take notice of our own Nick F on here. He,s brilliant. He doesn't over or underplay events that must be a forecasters nightmare..
  3. Any reason to be cautiously optimistic for Sunday into Monday down here on the South Coast?
  4. Can see the tops of the cells over Northern France through the haze from Saltdean...They look like they are getting nearer , or have I been skygazing too long?
  5. These two pics were taken 20 mins ago from Saltdean just east of Brighton and facing south east directly towards the angry cells in Northern Fance...Anyone know if the skyscape pictured relates to the Cb,s in France?
  6. Any chance of anything drifting out of France with Brighton's name on it? Or anywhere aong South Coast..Wall to wall sunshine and very hot but the breeze off the sea seems to be increasing..
  7. Me too buddy ,hers hoping for something to just pop up out of the blue...Its happened before
  8. I feel your pain ,,,I'm in Saltdean not so far from Worthing ..We just don't seem to get those storms drift across the channel from France anymore
  9. Hopefully not..Years ago I seem to remember hearing BBC weather presenters saying things like ''But there could well be some thunderstorms moving up from France'' Used to love hearing that!! But for the last 10years or so I've noticed that summer storms moving through France heading North seem to veer North-Eastwards mid channel, thereby missing Brighton where I live out of the firing line...Any ideas as to why we don't seem to get those beefy South -North storms any more? They seemed to track along the meridian and then up the spine of the UK. Sadly not any more...
  10. can see lightning from Saltdean just east of Bton no sound yet though
  11. looking ominous in the fading light here in Saltdean just east of Brighton
  12. I think you are right ..looking good for Sun night, fingers crossed
